just my opinion, I really liked the december one and I was a bit disappointed there wasn't one in January or one so far for Feb.

yeah i think that would be nice.

i think it is fun to be forced to work on a certain subject, and i think it stretches us to do that.. but i also think it would be fun to see what everyone is up to in their own work.

You could put me down for a yes on this.

The weekly themes are great but I like the idea of having the free study to kind of showcase your other work.

My only suggestion would be to limit the submission time to either 2 weeks or 100 entries and then limit the voting to just 1 week rather than 2.

If it were limited to say 100 entries, it would then begin again the next day, ready for the next 100 entries. Would make it a bit more manageable to go through a smaller number more often than a huge number all at once.

Just my thoughts....

maybe the free study could be used for those who comment quite a bit, as a sort of reward for contributing :)

Mark me down for a yes.

I'll say yes to that, at least my low scores wont come from someone not figuring out what i mean.

I'll think your find that all the creative and fun challanges are very much pushed towards the members part of this site nowadays. Non payers get such gems as Roadsigns Revisited or Texture II. Money rules, shame though.

I think with all the sunsets, pets, babies and flowers it's pretty much turning into a freestudy on every challenge anyway.

Oh yeah, it's a shame that the folks that pay to help support this site are given a minor benefit.

Yes,but, what about doesn't meet the challenge crowd?
Again, they have to go back to the grocery stores to argue with the cashiers...
They will not find nothing to argue here! :-(

Yes it is a shame. Perhaps the paying members of the site should have just one challenge per week, not be able to enter the speed challenges, and not have the occaisonal free study as a benefit...

What in the world would you do if this became solely a pay site and you had to pony up $25 in order to enter any challenge?

I think it will be better if we have a monthly challenge, but non free-study. I think so, because I think if it will be free-study, people send a lot of sunsets pictures, flowers... etc...

Another idea, I remember that John Seltzer said in this forum that it would be a good idea that we have 3 different photograph skill: high, medium and low. And, we can do 3 monthly challenge by level...

Definitely, my english is horrible! Sorry!

This from a guy who barely gets any use from the site (entered 30+ challenges, received 7500-ish votes and 700-ish comments).

/me excuses himself to go renew his membership.

I'm not sure that Zodiac, Letting Go, Garage art, and Textures (recent FREE challenge topics) are sub-par. in fact, I think Garage Art produced some of the most creative work around here lately.

Pedro

ps yes, to free study, but not a whole month to submit (300+ entries are too overwhelming)

and what's wrong with sunsets?

Yes... month long free study challenges each month would be a great addition to the site.

My telephone bill gets so high just voting on all the photos every week, I really can't afford to comment on all of them too. Besides, the connection often behaves so badly I have to revote on half the entries because my votes didn't register the first time.
