Hi everyone, please take a moment and look at this link...there is an actual artist who abuses dogs to create his art and he needs to be banned...please read the link.

I wouldn't sign the petition for the simple reason you don't know if the dog was really mistreated. You don't know if the artist really was the one that did it if the dog was mistreated. Frankly, this could very well be another ploy by the PETA fanatics trumping up another animal abuse story to further their cause of banning annimals as pets around the world.

For a dog that was supposidly left to starve to death, it doesn't look in that bad of shape, nor does the area around it. Any dog that size would have no problem breaking the wire or pulling it out of the wall either if it wanted to get away. For all we know, this could have been an abandoned dog that was roaming the streets. And that's the problem with petitions like this... most people do not know the whole story or if it's even true. But many will sign it without doing the homework needed to find out all of the facts.

Peta was not aware of this, it was just reported today.

Oh and by the way...it's obvious in the photos that this dog was displayed in a museum...and I'm surprised that you said that this dog looks like it's in good shape...skin and bones...and wounds at the snout and around the body...do not look healthy to me...pictures say a thousand words...and your right...who knows if it was really this artist...but if someone is sick enough to display a dog in a museum in a corner and "looking" that unhealthy...should cause enough "visual" disturbance to put a stop to whatever the hell they are doing to it.

If the dog is malnurished it wouldn't have the ambition nor the strength to try and get away no matter what it's tied with now would it. Furthermore, if I screwed 3" lag type eye bolts into 2x4 studs in the wall and tied you there with 10 gauge wire, which is small wire, I bet you couldn't loose on your best day much less if you were starving to death.

That's a horrible picture !!! I hope this story isn't true and I hope that no one celebrates any person who abuses an animal under any circumstance..

With that being said... Don't fall for signing online petitions.. They give everyone involved a false sense of "helping" or "doing something to prevent this".. Get involved with your local animal shelter.. Volunteer to foster an animal.. Has anyone here ever heard of an online petition doing anything??? I haven't yet... Maybe this one will be the first.. hmmmmmmm

I think (and hope) this is a case of an artist taking advantage of an older, perfectly healthy dog that simply looks abused to get a reaction.

A friend has a 17 year old lab, very healthy, very happy, looks a lot like this.

That's absolutely disgusting and very upsetting. I hope he gets punished in some way or another.
There is no way you can look at that picture and say the dog wasn't mistreated. There are more forms of abuse than just physical; that dog was in bad shape. People like that make me sick. The point he says does make sense (that if you put a dog in a museum he will be the center of attention - but the same dog on the street you wouldn't even glance at (or something along those lines),but there is NO reason for him to have to demonstrate that by killing an innocent dog. Stupid stupid man.

I agree with the online petition thing as well..it's probably something that someone made up in hopes of helping, but probably nothing will come of it.

None of us have a clue of where this dog came from or what was done or not done. There are a million pictures out there that can cause people to knee jerk into giving money or signing petitions but the pictures have nothing to do with the reason they are being displayed. How do you think all those "help the childern" scam artists get so much money from donations? They find some kids somewhere that look like real tear jerkers and plaster them all over the place. And people fall for it.

One thing you are over looking... this is a 3rd world country (although a better 3rd world country than many). Their laws, their beliefs, the way they treat animals and people are different than they are here in the US. Thousands of dogs are treated a lot worse in other parts of the world... shoot, in many they eat them for food.

And frankly, I don't believe it. It could have been taken years ago. It could have been taken in someone's house. It could be a stray dog that someone rescued off the street. And I'll still bet that if it is about abuse, PETA is behind it somewhere. They make up more lies about animal abuse than anyone.

Anyway, if you want to sign some petition without knowing what's really behind the patition, based on a picture that you can't tell when it was shot or where or why, that's the choice of those that do so. I'm more skeptical of anything that comes off the internet.

Come on, Mike! If it weren't true it wouldn't be on the internet! And it's not like they're just using the petition to compile a list of email addresses to spam later, right? :P

I'm with you - skeptical, disbelieving, putting it in perspective, using common sense, etc.

Now-- can we post our own dog abuse photos in here?

I wouldn't be nearly as upset if they had just eaten the dog, at least it wouldn't have suffered. And....let's assume for the sake of arguing that he did indeed starve the dog, is this totally OK with you? I never questioned the validity of the petition, I just used my dummy yahoo e-mail and signed it in hopes that something will be done about it. Its not the fact that he just did it, it's the fact that he is being celebrated for it at a world art fair. Without action all over the world(however big or small), these third world countries will never change!

That is SICK. Dont see a point to any of it whether it is true or false. It's horrible and certainly not art by any stretch of the imagination.

I am not condoning anything - didn't follow the linkie - but I still find it interesting that animals get more sympathy then people in other countries (or at home for that matter).....

Anyways... I forget what PETA stands for... Is it People Eating Tasty Animals? Bad Rob... Bad Bad :-)

Interesting. I dont condone it, but then i dont condemn his quoted reason for doing so. But then again i dont really believe it.

check this one out - i reckon the guy is a genius. Now his quoted reasons for doing so are just pure art, and it is a further social commentary that he allowed the blenders to be switched on so that those of society with a mind to do so, could. Who is to blame for the death of the goldfish? Just trying to tackle that question and reason it out is acceptance that his exhibit is art, whether you agree with it or not.
