Now the free study challenge is over, I figured I would post a few from a couple of weeks ago. I loved the one I put in the challenge (although it was punished as expected :-)....

Challenge Version...

Others in the same shoot...

one more old one... haven't shot in a while so I've been revisiting and reediting... its really great. You find little gems you were too overwhelmed with choices to notice before.

Sorry if a couple of them are a bit small.

It might appear often that I only use flash or studio strobes for lighting, but in bright daylight one can't beat a simple reflector. If you let the sun shine from one side or even behind the subject you can get nice portraits with just one reflector.

More farting around with our lighting and backdrop gear. A couple more i the portfolio from this shoot, but I didn't add the details to them. Pretty much the same on all of them though.

Tim:

You might want to try:
1. Move them farther from the backdrop
2. Place a large piece of thick particle board under the sheet they stand on.

Doing these two things will make controlling your bg much much easier.

Nice as always. Love the vibrancy of those lips.

I would like to combine attributes of the two. I would like the second one to have the first's skin tone, and I would like the first one's bg color to be a bit subdued like the latter.

Am I too late to join here?

Here are a couple of my first shoot.

I do need to score me a board to put underneath. Right now they are just standing on carpet. And with as fidgety as they were it just was a mess.

And I do need to get them further away from the drop. Again - the fidgetiness was tough to deal with.

TY fro the tips. I do appreciate them!

booger, booger, booger, POOP - I'll have to remember THAT one!

I was very happy with how this three "light" setup turned out (two flash heads, one laser). And my first real use of hard light. Very fun all around.

Pleased with this experiment. I hope to figure out a way to do this shot in a much simpler setup with better results to be able to offer this as a studio portrait option.

Ya... the original poster vanished in a flurry of unexpected work, which is both good and bad. I was surprised to see the thread still going and went through to pulled all the people that asked to join and then added them to the first page. There is some wonderful work here, time to get caught up on commenting.

haven't been shooting so I've been taking some time to revamp my port and revisit old shots. So here are some little things I found and added...

Attempt at a Christmas shoot with my three year old. These were the best of the lot. They went up as a Collage display in our store front and have gotten a lot of attention. Next project will be Valentines with her and another toddler!

I completely forgot about this thread. I signed up saying I was interested and then lost touch. Anyway, here are a few portraits from one of my recent family photo shoots:

Changed the location of our studio in the house to allow me more working room allowing us to get further away from our backdrop comfortably.

both are from the same "bathtub session". I'm happy with both-(though being his mother I may be biased :)) - especially that after a long break he just started to look in the camera again.

I have deleted the pictures I had on here previously as after taking some suggestions, went back and did some more editing to improve the pictures. Thanks Dewterry for all of your critique and comments. Here are the new ones.
