I just want to say "THANK YOU" to everyone in this thread. I really appreciate all the input

THANK YOU for starting this thread. At times I feel very down about my daughter's dyslexia and YES I too want to give up. But I know I can't for her...and I won't. But it nice to see success stories and read about other parents that are trying just as hard within their family as we are in ours.

datcat thank you for sharing your story. I feel your struggles. I appreciate, too, all that have responded to this thread.

This site explains a bit more about the colored overlays. I'm not sure of the cost, privately, but if you are interested, Irlen may be able to direct you to a community college or university that can "test" you.

Also, this is in no way and "endorsement" for them. I've seen them work for some, but it is not the cure for all. :/ Just another resource to check out.

You can create small overlays yourself, well I did anyway; out of translucent sweet rwappers!!! I normally buy a tin of lets say, Roses and eat a load of the same sweet then stick them all together!!! Good fun!!

They are not very expensive though, I was just bored and rather hungry :P
You can buy cheap imitations at craft shops which are just as good
