lexar or sandisk? Which one?

IMO... Transcend, SanDisk, Lexar- in that order. Transcend is usually the cheapest of the bunch, too. The fastest cards are SanDisk Extreme IV and newer 266X models. You can compare performance here, though many of the newest cards aren't listed. My favorite source for CF cards is NewEgg, and you'd have a hard time beating a fast 8GB card for $58.

My newest card is a 8gig 266x transcend which is a great card and my older slower card that I got last year is an 8gig ridata 80x. Never an issue with either.

I JUST, like, 30 minutes ago purchased the Lexar 8GB Professional 133x CompactFlash Memory Card from Ritz and I just saw this Transcend 8GB Compact Flash (CF) Flash Card on Newegg for $100 cheaper! Are they both just as good as one another? Did I waste my money? Or should I just go ahead and get the one on Newegg as well?

ps)These are to go in my new Nikon D300.

Good thread!

I have no complainst with my transcend card at all and its a 266X, even if its slow for that rating it will be faster than my 30D so I guess it comes down to price. For $135 usd hard to go wrong with it.

on a related note, here is a neat site with some speed tests.
