So folks, here it is, the official thread!!

I am wondering if any of you photogs out there would be interested in taking photos of a breast cancer survivor (you can include their daughters and/or grand-daughters in the photo) to be included in a calendar that will be sold with all profits going to the SGKBCF.

I spoke to the printer and he wants to see what we have in mind before he commits. Because of this, I have no price yet as to what it will cost to obtain a calendar. :-/

Here is the idea:

Take a photo representing a holiday in each month (you choose which holiday but your month will be assigned to you by way of pulling names out of a hat) with a pink theme and a survivor (or 50) as your subject. Think, pink shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day :)

You will be credited with your name on the photograph and the state where you live will be listed as well.

I already have some people interested:
me TCGuru (of course) DONE
rex DONE
NikonJeb DONE
rossbilly DONE
and
fotomann_forever DONE

that makes 5... I would like to have 1 photog for each month... if that is not doable, one more would round us out to 2 months each (a pretty good sized task, but easier than what we had originally at 4 each).

add to the list:
gwe21 DONE
routerguy666 DONE
Monique64 DONE
karmat DONE
literaryradical DONE
colorcarnival DONE
Quigley DONE
dknourek NEEDS TO BLOG

That's it! We're full! Thank you everyone!!

Count me in! My step mom is going through her radiation treatments now for stage IIIC breast cancer.

let me know what you come up with. My step mom also works for a publisher, so I bet we can get better pricing on the calendars too.

Let's do it. No I mean the calendar.

Thank you Erica!! I will edit the first post to include you.

Leroy just PM'ed me, he suggested a quote from each of the survivors to be printed in the blank boxes at the beginning or end of each month.

Go Leroy!!!

James, we ARE going to do it!

6 more!!! :)

I'd be interested in shooting for one of the months, however I would need to ask around to find a survivor. Shouldn't be a big deal if you'd like to include me with that slight caveat.

Do you have some sort of running theme in mind for all the months or is it just 12 individual styles?

I don't know one either... I plan to ask around my community :)

Just PINK. That's the only theme :) It will be lovely to have you!! :)

I'm sorry that I can't be a part of this as a photographer, my portrait skills just are not any where close to where they would need to be.

But I do have a suggestion, what if all the photos were in black and white with just a flash of pink. The example of shamrocks for St. Pat's only the shamrocks would be in color.

Good luck with the project and let us know when the calendars are available for order.

Thanks!! The B&W idea is a good one. What does everyone think of that? It would involve some PP, but I think we could do it :)

It's a good idea - would give the shots more of a uniform appearance.

Sooner we can assign months the better also.

I think this is a GREAT idea, although I haven't taken any real portraits but would love to opportunity to try for this. I do know a family that is close to me and my heart but would have to ask them if they would be willing to pose. But if there is a chance of me seriously getting in on this then I will definitely ask them as I think this is awesome :)

What about a photo from down under?

I think B&W is a great idea as well.

What is the time frame on this project?

I know several survivors and some who are battling it currently. If you need another photog, let me know.

I will have to find a survivor as well. Wonder if the cancer center wil allow me to post a flyer?

I'm in if you need another.

Ya know the V8 commercials, where people get smacked on the head fer not thinkin straight? That was me this morning!

Two minutes ago, I ran into someone who grabbed me by the hand & says 'I need a link to your website, because we still need family photos'. DOH! She is also a breast cancer survivor! I didn't even remember til she hurried off to a meeting... I'll re-visit 'J' in a little while, as I think she will be happy to help.

Yaaaaa!!! I am so very proud to have all of you offering to help! Both for your beautiful work AND your grace in helping.

Looks like I might have a local "celeb" of a sort interested. Should find out in the next few days.

When is the deadline for this? I assume to get it out while people are still interested in buying calendars would mean it needs to be printed in the next few weeks?

Also TCGuru are you going to be the editor as far as selecting shots?

I am hoping to have it done by the end of November. That way people will get their calendars around the middle of December :)

Yes, I am hoping to get it out ASAP. I am going to let each photog select their favorite 2 and yes, I will be choosing between them. Of course, you will all have input before the final product is made :)

I have added the other 4 to the list... that makes 11 :)

One more and we have 12. If we don't get one more by the time I get up today (around 6 server time), I will just add someone to the hat twice.

ETA: I almost forgot to welcome you all to the party :) LOL
Deadlines will be set once we get everyone "in" :D
