| I have a HP 927 and discovered yesterday using someones very expensive camera that my little camera is not even in the running. My funds are limited to what kind of camera I can buy and therefore I need advice on what the most camera would be for the least money. Any info would be greatly appreciated....also I learned yesterday that it should be one that records in RAW format....thank you in advance for your advice! |

What kind of photogaphy do you like to shot or planning to shot? What's the budget?
You would be surprise by the quality of less expensive if you can get the proper lighting. |

I would like to do portraits as well as outdoor and macro......
no more than $500...I know that is almost silly... |

| You could probably get a used Canon Rebel XT for about $500. I used the oldest Digital Rebel (the 300D) for portraits and outdoor photos and it was light years beyond point and shoots. Those can probably be bought used for a very reasonable price. |

There will probably be a lot of lower end used Nikon camera's available soon with the D300 being released this month (November).

The canon 10D was a good camera too. I am sure you could find a used 10D on ebay for a pretty reasonable price.
