Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Just finished installing, and am playing around now, trying the stuff I already use, exploring the interface tweaks, etc. Nice and snappy on my 2.1 Ghz G5 iMac so far. Contemplating turning my backups over to Time Machine for overnight churning...

I am waiting, want to see if there are any bugs or see what programs have problems with it. I just dont wanna install it and my font program or something chooses not to work

but it does look awesome

installed mine today too. already used time machine to do a backup. no issues so far. I did have a question, though. I thought I had read somewhere that Image Capture could be used to remotely capture pics now. But I can't figure it out. Maybe I read wrong, or the poster was wrong!

oh, already have My Submissions on DPC on my dashboard as a widget.

I have used Bridge and CS3 with no problems. the ability to open up larger versions of images while using finder is also pretty handy.

According to MacFixit, avoid a straight upgrade. Archive and Install (or if you can, Erase and Install) appear to be safer options, especially with Leopard.

I recommend reading the reports on this site prior to installing.

Gulp. I just did a straight install. Everything fine so far though no restart yet, other than the automatic one after the install is finished.

OK, 50 mins left on my install (according to the little timer....)

I was impressed that this was available over here today. According to the guy in the Apple store (reseller, not an apple store as such), it was launched exactly at 6.00 pm local time yesterday, so they stayed open for a couple of hours extra to service the eager beavers who had to have it yesterday. I don't think I classify as one of those. I waited until today. :)

Getting mine on Monday from Amazon. Good thing, cuz I work all weekend anyway and no fun time with it. Can't wait though.

I haven't bought Leopard yet, but I plan to eventually. I only use my Mac for photography. Do you think a straight upgrade would be a bad idea for me?

i did a straight upgrade to 10.5, just as i did for 10.4, 10.3, 10.2, 10.1, 10.0, 9.2, 9.1, 9.0, 8.6, 8.5, 8.1, 8.0, and 7.6 and had no problem. in fact, it's been one continuous upgrade ontop of another (which has been migrated to new machines four times in that time period). thus, i don't have any real concerns about the straight upgrade.

I did a straight upgrade too - and so far everything looks fine :)
Not that there's that much difference though (at least not as far as I can tell).

Are you able to hit the update button with opening the page in a browser? I created the widget, but I just want to refresh the widget, not open the page in a browser window.

without opening the browser? I think so, each time I check mine it is up to date. Have to keep checking and see.

After posting on that one...all I did was click on the Web clip pane and it updated.
Still gonna have that CLICK addiction for Updating you score. :)

Well, that time, I just waited a few seconds and it updated.....COOL!!

Just noticed something,

Seems that Leopard spell checks in all text fields. I thought it might be a new feature on DPC, I get red underlines on misspelled words in the DPC Forums as I'm typing. Checked it out on Windows and it's not there. Must be Leopard. SWEET!

Another Leopard setback. My wife is a psychologist and uses several old specific applications to her practice that are vintage OS 9. They were Windows apps that were ported to the old Mac OS but were never upgraded to OS X. She's been happily using them under classic mode on a series of Macs over the years until I upgraded to Leopard last week. She asked me the other night if I could get her psych applications working again. I took a look and to my surprise, learned that Leopard no longer supports OS 9 Classic Mode!

Since we still had the install disks to her apps, I had no choice now but to finally outfit one of our new Intel Macs to run Windows. A trip to Circuit City got me Windows XP Home Edition ($200! I nearly gagged putting out that much money to - gasp - purchase Microsoft Windows).

I had already purchased Parallels Desktop against this day, and had to upgrade that package to version 3, but after about an hour, finally had everything working. I used to use SoftPC back in the day, but I have to say, this is pretty cool. Windows XP (the version I still use at work) works flawlessly under Parallels under Leopard. It's quite a treat.

One question for all you seasoned Windows users, and other Mac users who run Parallels: do I have to worry about virus protection and all the other stuff Windows users have to deal with daily? My system gives me a complaint everytime I boot up that I'm unprotected. My family has strict instructions not to surf the net using Windows, but am I vulnerable to anything even so??

Yes. Windows, even on Mac is still Windows, unless you run a complete closed system (no file exchange/sharing etc.).

John, must Windows have access to the network, or can you just tell it that there is no network?

You can disable network card driver and you won't be able to go online or connect to the network.
