Journalism is journalism. Photojournalism is photography that pertains to it. Newspaper front page pictures don't tell a story; they attract readers to the story and illustrate the story. The text tells the story, usually.

That's just me picking up the other half of a split hair.

I couldn't agree with you less. Although the picture needs to attract interest, photojournalists aim to shoot something that isn't just an "illustration" to the story. They look to, as so many people have said in this thread, tell the story, or an aspect of it, in a visual format.

Not to sound rude, but you clearly have a very wrong idea of what journalists and photojournalists do.

;-)

I'm with Skip on that one. The challenge description is a bit misleading, I suppose. But travel/fashion/penthouse/hustler/dog fancy are not Journalism.

For those that think we are wrong, how would you vote if I had entered a photo of a nude woman. Playboy is a magazine.

You mean the are not just documenting the action, its contrived? Women dont just laze about at home in the buff?

I can't believe some of the comments I am recieving for this challenge..in my eyes some of them are a little harsh, but the other ones have been nicely stated. Not enough to get your panties in a bind, though. DARN.....
I feel tension in the air....

I didn't enter this one, but I'm thinking of going through and voting everyone 1's, just to keep a few people away from the coveted six.
:-D

In that case, why bother with challenge descriptions at all?

Just provide the title and let people look it up in a dictionary or a wiki

I'm just a little confused, maybe. Can anyone tell me what the text is for?

For people to read assuming the story the photo conveyed was interesting enough for them to want to get more detail.

That's nice and circular then. The picture indicates that there is a story and the text tells it.

Constructive comments so far, I love comments that point out faults that I may not have noticed.

Hanging in there about the 6.3 mark :) Amazingly I have not really had much jumping around with the votes this time.

So far, I am jumping out of my skin. This score is the highest one of my photos has ever achieved. If things stay as they are...and they wont, I expect it to drop, I'll be looking at a new personal best, and I am happy with that!
