Brad got a 1Ds Mk III?! Maybe he's just renting it, as it's not marked as his primary...

you look under cameras and he is listed as an owner, the only one. I would hope he would only put his name there if he owns it. Hopefully he will reply and submit some images. psart

Hmm - his latest posts (of the fire) have EXIF info in the comments and say "1D Mk III". Maybe he selected the wrong camera. Still, the 1D Mk III is a beast as well.

Based on the EXIF, that would be my conclusion too. Maybe he'll see this and set the record straight...

Ooops.
Picked the wrong one. It's a conventional 1D MKIII, not a 1Ds.

All the better. Had you spent $8000 on a body, I would have slapped you and said "you could a 1D MKIII and me a 5D for that price!"

Excellent shots, btw. Sad subject.

Yeah I was kind of hoping Brad had the better camera so we could see better stuff from him. Sorry, I had to point out the implications of this thread. :P

Yes, yes, and megapixels != quality... But let's not go there.

Actually, I think it was mostly "Hey, Brad's got a cool toy!" =)

It's important to have a 21Mp camera to get good 640x480 results. Maybe once we all have them we could switch to 720 pixels on the long side... Perhaps the dream of quality will finally be there then.

No, there will still be some holdout somewhere on DPC who has a VGA monitor that might have to scroll to vote.

*hobbles up with cane*

I've been votin' DPC with my Commodore 64 at a whoppin' 300 baud since the beginnin'.

I'll have one of those too, Brad.... right after I sell 2 dogs, a kid and maybe my kitchen. :)

Well, in the spirit this thread has turned:

- JPG is better than RAW
- JPEG is better than JPG
- 1 megabyte == 1 megapixel.

Funny thing about a whole shit load of pixels. The more it gets reduced, the more the $$ gets tossed out the window. Great for prints though.

Promise me you'll bid on it! I'll be in a bathtub full of ice to stop the swelling & bleeding from the self-surgery. :)

Have I got this right? Brad has a super killer new camera. The photojournalism challenge is running. San Diego is going up in flames. Could these events be related????? ;P

Wishful thinking owning one. A MKIII was put in my hands yesterday and was told to figure it out.
I did - it's a freakin machine gun!
Heavy sucker when coupled to a 70-200 f/2.8L IS also.

You should follow me around and carry my equipment when I'm shooting. 1DMKIIn and whatever telephoto I need at the time, and the 1DMKI with either a WA or a short zoom depending on what I'm doing. Both can either have a 580EX on top or not depending on what I'm doing. You get used to the weight. :-)

Besides now that you have had one in your hands, you will toss that little rebel out and get you one!

MattO

PS stay safe out there.

Adding a grip for now and making my little Rebel that could, better.

Safe? That's no fun (j/k)

I don't think so... I don't think he want to "unbalance" the perfectly centered RED ribbon :P
