heard many great things about that through the Canon printer forums on Yahoo. Myself, I have the i9100, and it is awesome. I think it is the 13x19" big brother of that one. I recc. using Canon's papers, Ilford classic Pearl is awesome also (one I use mostly). Profiling the colors is the worst part of any printer. I have had nothing buy mediocre results with the Kodak papers (all of them) on the Canon. Just extra info.

I use the i950 and Ilford Classic Pearl and Gloss, ICI Olmec papers also produce good results.

I have the Canon S820 ver good but I never use home printers for my photos - you simply can't beat a good highstreet photo developer.

Plus they will fade over time.

True, but for proofing they are a lot faster

I have a HP Deskjet 3650 and for the price I paid for it, $85 CAN, I'm very pleased. One thing I do notice about the print quality though is that different colours are applied at different densities, hence when light shines on the prints at an angle, you can see a distinct edge between contrasting colours or shades. Maybe it's a function of the ink, maybe it's a function of the paper, or maybe a combination of these factors. Is anyone seeing this type of thing with the more expensive printers and premium papers or is this an inherent problem with all ink jets?

Epson 2200.

This was a recent debate within the Lapeer Camera Club, with the majority position taken that only pro labs do saleable quality. 2 of us have 2200's. After displaying framed and matted 13x20's, the concensus was that the quality was definately "saleable".

Epson 2200

I love it, but light magenta and light Cyan go really really fast...do the other 2200 users have the same problem?

Still waiting for the 8-ink-cartrdige Espon Stylus Photo R800 to become available... incorporating new red and blue inks, the Stylus Photo R800 has the widest colour gamut available from an inkjet photo printer.

I have the Epson 960. It makes great prints, but I have stopped printing most of my stuff with it and will be ordering my prints instead.

The light magenta is the quickest to be depleted followed by the light cyan, but I still get over 60 (8x10's) out of these plus incidental printings.

The R800 looks quite exceptional.

I got canon i950 and it is a top notch thing, a bit expensive though, but has got 6 ink tanks, and therefore saves a lot of ink when printing non-qualiti prints, like text and stuff...

I have the Canon i900D

I did not want a large format at this time, I opted for the built in card reader and quality it produces.

I can shoot a card of photos and print and index real quick just by putting it into the printer.

Edit:
That and the 4x6 attachment is great.
I love it for printing test shots and small photos to carry with me. Especially when I'm working on a challenge and just want to do some test prints of ideas.

I had an Epson 1200 for a year and it printed beautifully but was a major pain in the rear, and then it seems to have died shortly after the warranty expired (head makes noise but doesn't move)

Replaced that with a Canon s750 (inexpensive) just to try the Canon line. And I have been impressed. Been using my Epson matte paper and glossy paper with great results. Incredible photos for a 4 color printer. Never clogs, even if you let it sit unused. Very efficient for ink, and I always use highest settings with my matte paper. Almost too quiet when it's printing. I have to walk over and check that it's really printing it's so quiet.

Now I am sold on Canon printers, and I too am looking at the i960. It looks good, as long as it works as well as my s750 on Epson matte paper (really like this paper and it's cheap to boot). My biggest hesitation is whether to try and find a 9000 cheap and go wide. Or to invest again and go wide. After spending $500 on my Epson 1200 which only lasted 1 year, I am hesitant to spend a lot on an ink-jet again.

The 1200 is my second Epson--I also had the first Epson Color Stylus. But they were both pains in the rear. And they are especially bad for people who don't print often--I don't use them heavily, as I also have a laser printer.

BTW - If anyone in the US wants my Epson 1200 for parts, just pay for shipping including the cost of a pickup. I also have some unopened cartridges which I will sell for 2/3 of what they cost online. The head on my epson should be good. It has never clogged more than could be cleaned using the normal printer cleaning cycles. And I only used Epson inks.

I use a Lexmark X75 and am pretty happy with the results. But I don't print out that many prints. I prefer to order from from online developers.

I have a Canon s200 that I got at Target 2yrs ago for $30. It's a total piece of crap (you get what you pay for, eh?)! I tried printing an 8x10 once and it took almost 30 minutes plus it was way off color. Stay away from the "S" series printers b/c they're garbage.

Not all s series. As I pointed out below, my s750 produces near photographic quality prints that rival my older Epson 1200. I never thought I would settle for a 4 color printer, but it's hard to justify buying a new printer when this one is so good! (As well as efficient and clog free.)
