Deannda, hope ya don't mind, but I took your shot 'Virgo'

And reworked it into a tritone. I was shooting for a feminine tone. Hope it works...

To make the shot tri-tone, I loaded the shot into Photoshop 6
Made an adjustment layer with the channel mixer
Played with the channel in monotone until I got a good grayscale look
Went into mode|grayscale and flatened the shot into an actual grayscale file
Went into mode|duotone and selected tritone and played around with different colors for the three tones.

You can take the same shot and get very different moods by using different duo tri and quad tone mixtures!!!

Sorry original looks better to me...

May be a pure BW would work... The softness and purity of white

TooCool,

That's an interesting take on the Neuferland's shot. The composition is so good that you can't help but play with the colors.

At first I thought it wasn't 'contrasty' enough and it wasn't in all the combinations I tried in duotone. However the first tri-tone I tried boosted the contrast greatly!

At first I hated B/W type shots but am growing more and more impressed with what can be done. I must say that it's not as easy to pull off as color shots...

I love looking at B&W shots, but like you said it's tough to make them look good.
