Found the entry very Simms-like, prefer the outtake. |

A few outtakes:
Neil helped me choose the right one. Edit to add: though I think you selected the best of your choices, eyewave I really love the "caged" outtake. What interesting patterns!

I don't know if this is the correct place to pose this type of question, but it's an outtake!
I was going to go with this shot
But #@!$% photoshop decided to make the sky -very- grainy when I saved for web (quality was 83, maximum so I would think this wouldn't happen). CS2 by the way.
Should I be using a different program to convert from raw to jpeg? Should I have compressed the image/croped more so that I could make a higher quality jpeg file? Help!
By the way, this was the submission i went with--much less interesting, in my opinion:

Don't blame Photoshop, I guess the pixelation is due to high contrast (don't know your editing steps, though) which killed the smooth transitions and/or oversharpening. BTW, I prefer your entry way over the outtake. |

Entered this little gem that I almost passed by:
Lone Red Imitates Leaf
Outtakes:
Floral Hatchlings in Red Nest
Vibrant

I am most sure that the orange flower would have scored highter BUT I found that my entry was much more interesting in color, texture, details, and 'uniqueness' of the find (hence my decision to probably go against the grain;-) )

I ended up in Fauna (and did OK), but nearly submitted one of these -
This one had nice color, but was a pretty boring shot -
Any thoughts on how they might have scored? |
