You Should talk to the church coordinator. Churches with really strict photography guidelines will usually let you use a flash for the precessional and recessional shots....as well as flowers to the mother. A 50 mm 1.8 with high ISO should cover you during the ceremony. I would try to sit in a pew behind the parents, next to the center aisle to get shots of the ring exchange and kiss and be ready to leap out with flash ready for when they walk out. The first two pews will be for family, talk to them during prep and plan to have them leave room for you to take a seat. Its not as terrible as it seems.

oops

WOO HOOO - My photography cherry has been popped so to speak, and the wedding is over. I'm glad you were all thinking of me, it must have worked because the wedding was a great success. I just got home last night and this afternoon (when I get home from work) I will begin some editing and post some for you.

It was a challenge - the lighting was tough, but the lens and the tripod pulled through. The family was a hammy bunch and the chemistry was great. I can't wait to have you all roast my pictures...... I'll post some soon.

Happy to hear that the DPC "family" advice was helpful for you in this case. I wonder how it would have turned out if you had tried to do the shoot with only the lens that you refered to in the original post?

Left a couple of comments. Not intended to bring you down. Just a honest feedback and suggestions on what could make those even better, taking into consideration that you cannot reshoot :-)

So how did the indoor shots turn out... those were the ones you were peeing your pants over. Was it as dark as you feared? Did the fast lens you rented help out on the indoor shots?

Do you use photoshop to edit? You need to ave those smaller. I noticed one was 103571 bytes. That is huge.
