Judi, your eloquence shines through. Well said, and very helpful - thank you!

------------------------------------------

Is everyone waiting on Langdon's response, because the proceeds will go to a good cause regardless of his answer. This really isn't something we (Glenda & I) are taking lightly. We are donating 25% of our business' profits from this entire MONTH to this cause:

As evidenced here.

Thread releated:

statistic from canadian cancer society... in 2007,

22700 women diagnosed with breast cancer and 1400 will die from it.

22300 men diagnosed with prostate cancer and 4300 will die of it.

And consider the "side effects" of the respective treatments on the survivors.

Often very traumatic to say the least.

THE MIGHTY LANGDON HAS RESPONDED!! :) :) :)

I'll cut & paste for clarity:

"I'm definitely interested in supporting this by scheduling a challenge
if you meet a set goal. I'll even go as far as to donate money based
on participation in the challenge.

Just let me know what the goal is and when you meet it.

Also, the challenge will definitely not be "Breasts" or anything
related (likely not even "Breast Cancer"). I think it'd be a bit
distasteful for people to photograph breasts in honor of Breast Cancer
Awareness. Right now I'm thinking "Pink" would be more appropriate.

Cheers,
Langdon"

--------------------------------------------------------

Please, PLEASE... everyone discuss politely?

Some points to consider:

Given the parameters above, what date should we set as a deadline? (I think midnight, Oct. 21st, so that the challenge can begin @ rollover & be completed by the end of the month.)
Is $2500 a proper / feasible goal? (I think we can do it)

Again, thanks to EVERYONE who has provided input - let's keep this going!!!

Billy

Pink would be a great challenge for this.
10/10/2007 08:41:20 PM · #56
Pink would be a great idea. Thanks Langdon. That's a really good way to address very real concerns. Good thinking.

The 21st sounds like a very good time to schedule.

Is $2500 realistic? I think so... maybe a bit steep. I'dbe interested in hearing more input on that.

Um, I already took a long lunch today, shopping @ Michaels for this one!!! You should have seen the expression on the woman's face when I tried to explain - a mixture of admiration (the cause) and laughter (cuz I was blushing)

oh, BTW - the amount raised so far is:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

$164 & change

Next giver?!?!!!

why not give it 15 or thirty days to raise as much as we can for "Pink" the challenge not the singer :P *bad pun I know* and take it from there and at the end of the day we still get the challenge, donate the cash and research for what ever we choose to send it to will benefit just a we bit more thanks to the wonderful people at DPC :)

An this mite be a shameless plug but at the current money raised I'm proud to say that I'm about 25% responsible for the current amount... Anyone care to show myself and rossbilly up on that one :D

*not sure who else donated what at this point ;)*

Wazza...if you all make the quota...I would personally like to see you don a pink tutu...now that should encourage a few more donations....what do you all say folks.

I only wish I was there to photograph you personally!

The Dragon Boats were held here on the weekend of the 29th and 30th of September.

Dragon Boats are paddled by those who have had breast cancer. This was an international competition. A girlfriend and I took photo's for the cancer foundation. Never seen so much PINK in my life. Here's a few pics.

There are over 62,000 members and registered users on DPC, if everyone just gave $1.00, that would surpass the goal...

Just something to think about people!!!

Absolutely correct miss jojo! Lost of people doing even a small amount can do GREAT things. For instance, several people where I work are already asking about the project - all because a coworker walked by my desk...

What if each of us chose to PM just one or two people HERE? What if we spread this to MySpace? Heck, everyone seems desperately interested in YouTube these days... ya feel me, playa? ;)

ETA - 30 days sounds good.
