Day 6 - The waiting Game.

Clean up day so hanging at the house. Cats just watch because they don't have thumbs.

Those thinking that Lucis Art is a filter to just do those really cool effects; this is partly true but only a side effect of what it really does. Exposure/Detail is what it is useful for. This ISO 800, 1/50sec handheld (IS) @ 400mm was severly underexposed. I was gonna toss it until I did a Lucis Layer. You can still see movement/grain but didn't merit tossing (today). Also Xero Graphics Soft Vignette Layer applied.

A late but very very happy day 5. Also, it shamelessly violates the rules.

So much going on I decided I had to photgraph something at home for the 4th day. I didn't get time to upload it that day, so here it is. Our reading materials. There are so many photographers in our family that when they are here you can almost always find someone reading one of these.

Start each day with a nutritious breakfast! This started out to be nutritious, whole wheat waffle with raspberries, but then it needed something more to add to the photograph, so I added the ice cream. It tasted great. Never had ice cream for breakfast before. Please don't tell my grandchildren!

Day Five

Today it was cool - 82F and the AC wasn't on at all - all day long! First day of the season. Of course it will warm up to 98 by mid week again, but the worst is over - yay!!! Worst summer in the history of Phoenix.

I promised Patio that I'd do this. And I was lazy. So, starting today ... I'll do my best to keep up.

This was a chance find. I loved the fog this morning and the beautiful webs that glistened every way I turned today.

If you left a comment on this image could you please do it again for me. I even had a favorite so I do hope it isn't to much trouble.

Day 6

I got nothing.

Actually, that's not true. I have a shot and an alternate shot, both taken today. And as I sit here in my hotel room, I can post comments and can post to this thread. But I can't download images. I don't know if it's the hotel's access or something else, but I guess I'll just have to post a bunch on Tuesday when I get home.

Kind of a bummer. It's beautiful here. I'm in Park City, Utah, with snow covered ski slopes visible from the parking lot. Oh well. I can still look at everyone else's work. And I'll definitely catch up soon.

Meanwhile, here's an old one from my workshop folder - temporarily moved over for the viewing pleasure of all you dog lovers who have seen enough of kitty.

I've decided I need the therapy. So as long as you're all willing to put up with beige in various forms, I'll subject you to some really crappy, boring pictures. I plan to take the opportunity to learn new ways to edit the daylights out of things. If nothing else, it may be a good learning experience for someone to apply to photographs that are actually worthy of editing. :-) I'll post something later this evening.... I've stolen an overlay from goodman (she doesn't know - don't tell her!) and want to play with it. Meanwhile, I'm loving all these cool shot of people, places, COLOR, trees turning, beaches... all very enjoyable!

P.S. For those who didn't know, I'm in Kuwait. Started out here in July, went to Iraq for awhile, now back here for a bit. Iraq had a lot of things going for it over Kuwait - better weather (granted, a few degrees cooler when temps are in the 110s isn't much, but it has no humidity, which makes a HUGE difference), better food, and most importantly, WAY better photo ops. Of course it also had those annoying things that went boom from time to time, sometimes more frequently than others. And travel between camps was by helicopter. Here, travel between camps is by vehicle and is the biggest danger - wrecks on Kuwaiti freeways are almost always huge fireballs and quite fatal. If they're gonna wreck here, they go all out. Up next in the rotation is Afghanistan, the weakest spot of the three for living conditions and personal safety (things go boom AND they shoot at you, but not with cameras), but probably decent for photo ops. Weird how I look at that as a plus....
The Desert Collection is where I'm sticking most of the stuff I've shot since I got here.
