Haven't entered challenges in a while, but just bought a 40D today, so next month - watch out!

Welcome to our DPC OFs group :) I will send you pm about our "photo rooms"... stand by.

(With papagei our group has been filled, and I suggest other members to start their own groups for idea exchange.)

I'll set it up to little longer time-out as soon as I get a chance.

Left you comments, I'm having trouble leaving notes with a shot that I uploaded for possible free study shot, every time I hit the update notes button it says that my session has timed out, anyway the shot in my folder is possibly for this months free study depending on feedback.

Type your note, copy .. then sign back in again to post .. that is how I've made it work for me. :)

I change the timeout, should be longer now... although, I wouldn't worry about it. I prefer to send pms for the image critique than using the notepad there. It has character limitation anyway.

When I create that website, people were worry about the security, so they asked me to keep the timeout very short.

Also, if this works, I do have a better idea and we could move to a better room with larger conference table, and much more windows (more features).

Apparently the original place I sent you is working fine after I reset the timeout. I am not sure why some of us having other problems uploading stuff, but there are little green “i”s on the menu items for “information”, try them.

I think I am going to keep our first place and let you guys know here when I upload photos. There is no reason to sign up for other places and make things more complicated for this.

Currently though, when people leave comments it doesn't identify who it is leaving the comment (I would recommend people leave their name if commenting, otherwise it's difficult to know who has and who hasn't responded). Also, as you have deleted some of the comments made, not everybody is getting chance to read everything and it looks as though there hasn't been any response. I understand as there is a limitation on the number of words that we may need to delete the text but it would be nice if we call could read the comments first. Just my 2 cents, but I am only one in the group.

Good suggestions :) I am working on it to make things better.

Hi all - I still can't upload photos. I follow the steps and then the site blips out on me. It's really too bad, since I'd love some input on what to submit for Free Study. Any suggestions how to do this differently will be appreciated.

Hi Alicia

I know this isn't ideal, but I'll happily comment if you send me an e-mail (with the photos attached)

I'm working on some stuff now, so I am online.

Thanks, Sarah!

I must have been holding my mouth right, or something, because I was just now able to upload three photos.

So, y'all - three photos for Free Study. Yay! Thanks!

Ah - Ok. Though a yahoo group would be a really good idea for this forum.

I end up entering totally different photo to half... just came to me last night (Sunday) and took about an hour to shoot. I think it is a better photo and doing better what original I showed you would do.

Also, I entered to “Free study”, now that's something i even surprised myself at the last second.

Anyway, those who entered to any challenge last night, good luck.

I will be uploading my "Tech II" photo soon to show you if you guys have time to look at :)

Leo

---------------

Edited to tell you that our group thing worked fine. I have changed my mind due to your comments, and I happened to agree with you all who commented on the photo. Since I didn't have other opportunity to take another one with same conditions, I came up with other shot.

Thank you "group" :)

PS: Maybe we should name our group with something, any ideas? pm each other :)

No, it was me, John (just-a-mister-e)
Private Yahoo Groups have thumbnail Folders per group member.
Group level message threads.

Copy of PM to Focuspoint:

We can not comment in a Public forum thread on dpchallenge.com

Like I said it has conferenc/chat and easly view many thumbnails per group member.

It is still missing a comment area.
If you can add a coment area Per-Picture your area would be fine, too.
I think you may already have that, I left a message/comment on your half photo.

I'm not sure if that was a general-public message or if they are Attached to each picture.

An GREAT, alternative is to create a Message thread (on your system or Yahoo-Group) for each Challenge. Then all of us just have to open one message area. We could make it mandatory to put the user-name as the First word in our messages.

(It's FREE) One person has to:
1) Open/Start a PRIVATE Yahoo Group.
2) Designate himself and another as Moderators (who have delete privelages)
3) Have all others sign up as Yahoo users, too.
4) Then Invite and/or have others Request to Join.

I want to second the Yahoo group idea.
10/01/2007 01:17:19 PM · #50
I'm good with Yahoo & Flickr seems like a good possibility, too, especially on the comment side of things. Let me know what you all ultimately decide and where to start helping out.

jot777stan This is a very informal portfolio, but it will show examples of what we can do.

Finally, you might want to check-out my profile @ Photoblog for a great interactive group that can either be restrictive or open to other Photoblog members for commentary purposes. I have already improved my skills by "bouncing some of my photo ideas off the members." (Many of them admit to being "rank amateurs.")
