OK, had to share the article in the No.50 (Dec. 03-Jan. 04) issue of LensWork magazine by Brooks Jensen. Lot of good truisms (131 total) in this article. Among my favorites:
"A good photograph, when first seen, hits you like a ton of bricks. A better photograph is almost unseen at first but comes back to mind over and over again long after you've stopped looking at it. This often happens unexpectedly."
-or-
"Lots of photograpers will claim that a photograph that needs a caption is an inferior photograph. This is silly and denies the obvious fact that all photographs are made, seen and interpreted against a social background that influences their appreciation and understanding. No photographer is an island, either."
