That would be awesome if you could come :D

Sheila... the workshops aren't necessarily for the advanced. They will have a bit of everything for everyone. I went to the first one in Germany summer before last and pretty much knew how to turn on my camera ;) (k maybe a bit more but not much) Thing is, I learned a great deal in the workshops. The one this year just let me build on what I had learned last year.. Honestly its just really nice to be in a room with other photographers of all skill sets and levels and watching them shoot. Being able to see them doing what they do and asking the questions as you see it being done. Everyone is so patient with you as well..its community learning at its best and we couldn't ask for a better, safer group of people to learn from. Gary, Nasti and Pedro are all so kind, patient and encouraging. Not to mention all the other amazing talent that shows up. :)
My point is: Don't count yourself out of workshop portion because you don't think you have the skill set to be there.. its not just for the advanced.

Absolutely okay.. :) There will be plenty to do around the city the day of the workshop if the workshop topics aren't your thing.. and we can all come together later that night and the following day :)

I thought we agreed no Edmontonians?

sheesh.

Ok if there are no Edmontonians I'm in.

Well.. It is confirmed!! killjoy181 and I will be going to Calgary. This will be our first GTG/Workshop and we're very excited. Complete armatures but we're hoping to learn lots!

John (Killjoy181) has just informed me that he now has to purchase L-glass before July '08. HAHAHA If anyone can suggest what lenses to have for this Workshop we would like to know what to use, buy or rent. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Calgary Stampede is July 4 to 13. So this should be a great time for street photography. Not to mention shooting models wearing cowboy hats and boots... ;)

I'm a maybe, just cuz July 2008 is like almost a year away...
09/22/2007 03:53:31 PM · #36

{did not mention the models aspect.. just workshop...)
i have a few friends in Calgary (& some family in Edmonton) so I may show ...
it's just too far away to think about right now....

man o man, this would be sooooo sweet. even if I had the money now, I'd have no clue if I could afford the trip though.

How about Denver next year? I have friends I can stay with there :P

@ Nick.. we'll put you on the list for now.. we wont need absolute commitment until the new year but this way you will at least be on the list and have first dibs on a spot. If that works for you? :)

@ Ralph like my reply to doctornick above.. if you think you might be attending then send us an email and we'll put your name on the first list .. the new year is when we are looking for solid commitments :)

@ wavelength sorry but Heida has already requested next years group.. she is hosting us all in Iceland in 2009 .. start saving yer pennies :) :)

Things are going very well, but I cannot make plans at this moment.

AZ!! Don't even play us fÖkker.. you are on the list already!!! (You can confirm in the new year but for now you are on it!!)

And as far as "the reason".. You had better bring the reason with you ;)
Could be an amazing honeymoon .. *nudge nudge* :D
09/22/2007 07:28:08 PM · #41
Ahhh, it is underway! Don't worry, we'll bring Az and his "reason" over with us :) One thing is for sure, he'll definitely have a lot of honeymoon photographers there :)

Sigh... I mentioned it to hubby and he said, "You can go there and I'll go back home" (east coast, where he hasn't been for yearrrs). So if I can hold him to that, I guess I'd like to be on the list :)

OK, email sent, but I might hold a week or two before reserving a room...

Can one of the locals come up with a few hotel suggestions once the venue is decided on?

This could be my best work, EVAH...

Well I am certainlyl interested but I won´t send an email since I can´t plan that far ahead. I have wanted to go both this year and last year to Germany and signed up for both, had to cancel both times a couple of months before.

I do find it rather likely that I would make the next year so definately put me on the "interested but can´t promise anything list", since I now have a 9-17 job and am trying to cut back on freelancing so much, I am not permanently hired though so that could easily change :)

Dave... email replied to ;) Hold off on booking a hotel until our venue is an absolute. We may have townhouse/dorm type options at the location we are using.. will let you know as soon as we finalize :)

Larus... So noted!! ~hoping this will be the year things work out for you though.. not too mention the masses that want to get a hold of all your glass ;)~

I've emailed as a probable. I've drooled over the last 2 GTGs, and this one is "close enough" to drive to.

What about U of C res? I'm pretty sure you can get a room there. Though it all depends on the venue.
09/23/2007 12:32:14 PM · #49
Sure...add me to the list. I can usually make it happen and the stars keep aligning in my favor.

Looking forward to meeting old and new friends. Also looking forward to meeting Az's "reason". My "reason" is mad at me at the moment for not going to her work related BBQ, this weekend. So it goes...

Now...where exactly is Canada, again?

You'll have to ask Miss Teen S. Carolina.
