That's 15 miles from where I grew up in Hagerstown. The battlefield is a GREAT place to shoot. Excellent idea. Sharpsburg, just down the road, is also a cool town with lots of historic buildings. Have fun people!

So far we have 4 confirmed and two possible.
Anyone else? It should be a really nice time of year to take pics at Antietam.

Put me down as a possible participant. I'm only 2 hours from there. It will depend on whether or not I can get that Saturday off of work.

I just received word too from my friend Don Cooper (retired National Geographic nature photographer) that he will be attending. He is a great photographer and has alot of experience photographing Antietam Battlefield.

Looks like we are on for 10/27! Sunrise is at 6:20am and sunset at 4:59 pm so let me know your preference. I have been there for both sunrise and sunset and there are spectacular photos to be seen at either.

So far our attendee list is as follows:
Keone - John Smith - Yes
w.r.miller - Bill Miller - Yes
shepherd1 - Randy Louden - Maybe
stiger - Eric Gaston - Maybe
Don Cooper - Yes
Karen Ecke - Yes
Cindy McCune - Maybe

Well, piffle! I would LOVE to do this (Antietam is so very beautiful) but I already have at least one other commitment that day :::sigh:::

Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I'll be there. I got that day off of work. My wife might come along. She's into military history, so I think she's interested in attending.

Sing me up!

I have nothing going that weekend so far.

I have a really nice portable free-standing grille that I brought to the Rickett's Glen GTG which worked wonderfully....I can bring it again.

I'm about an hour and a half away, so it's a no-brainer.

I'll ask my daughter as she's a newer DPC member, but I'm in for sure.

Woohoo! We got Jeb. No GTG is complete without Jeb.

So now that we have the entertainment, who's bringing drinks? :)

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed!!!

Just found out that my daughter's first cheer competition is that weekend, and to make matters worse, I have to work the competition as well as attend it!

It's not a bad thing as I'll get lots of great shots and all, I just wish it didn't coincide with the Antietam GTG.

I'll miss you guys!!!!!

Obviously the only solution is for your daughter to quit being a cheerleader. It's all about priorities. :)

Bump since we're less than two weeks away.
10/16/2007 01:32:17 PM · #22
Bump for additional interest. One more person is now attending. We are up to 8 for sure and 2 maybe.
10/16/2007 02:34:34 PM · #23
We'll be heading down there on Friday night and staying in a hotel somewhere close. Otherwise I'd have to get up at 4:30 AM to meet you guys at sunrise. :)

Here's hoping for some nice weather. Looks like it will still be warm for that time of year.
10/20/2007 09:25:34 PM · #24
Here's the obligatory "hey, it's only one week away" bump.
10/21/2007 10:35:12 AM · #25
Bump and to let the group know that there will also be a couple of photographers from the Antietam Photographic Society attending as well. Looks like we will have a good turn out. (10 for sure right now)

Weather - Right now the extended forcast show a chance of showers and a high of 66 degrees.
