Ok, I found someone selling their equipment, and I want to know if you think I should bite. Here's what's being sold (everything is in great condition)

Canon 20d body (with not many shutter releases)
Canon 20d Battery grip – BG-E2
Canon eye piece extender - EP-EX15
Extra battery – non canon.
Canon 17-85mm IS Lens
Lens hood for 17-85mm lens
Canon 70-200mm f/4 L Lens (non-IS)
Canon hand strap
Canon neck strap
Canon off-camera shoe cord 2
Pocket wizard plus II
Canon 580 EX flash
Pocket wizard cords – 580EX to receiver, and Pocket wizard to Vivitar 283
Vivitar 283 flash with large battery supply
Various lens filters
Burton Zoom pack camera bag.

all together for $1500 U.S.

I already have equipment, but I think I ought to jump all over this, and sell what parts of the set I don't want.

What do you all think?

thanks,
Mark

I think it's a great set of equipment. I'm not a fan of the 17-85mm IS though but thats by the by in such a large selection of kit.

And like you say you can sell anything you don't need or don't like, and if you sell if on here you'll know its going to a good home.

But that seems like a good price for a lot of stuff. Go for it.

Looks great to me. The 20D and the 70-200 f/4L are practically worth the price by themselves.

Ok, I ended up deciding not to follow up on the deal, but if anyone thinks it sounds good, here's the craigslist posting.

I tried to email and never got a response yesterday, either someone jumped on it and it sold already or its fake.

Sounded too good to be true anyways. But I always goto flea markets looking for that $100 L lens that someone doesn't know what they have.

Looks like that getup fell off the back of a truck, or someones camera bag ended up "missing". Wouldn't be suprised if the dude didn't respond because he's in county waiting on charges.

Those pocket wizards are worth $400 easy by themselves, there's no way anyone with a brain would sell all this for so little.

Hmm... Thats strange, there is the exact same setup on my local craigslist (Tampa), and it is the same price.

Likely a scam. I figured as much since he didn't list a location behind his listing. He hasn't responded to me b/c I put in the email that I want to meet up. Oh well, fun to dream sometimes@

Decided to google this post and it came up listed on Craigslist in Seattle & Washington as well. I would say this is the routine Craigslist scam.

Here's the Nikon version in San Diego.

$1500-
• Nikon D2X 12.4 Megapixel Professional SLR
• Nikon WT-2A Wi-Fi Wireless G Bottom w/ Nikon Camera Control Software
• Nikon 18-200 VR Lens w/ Petals and Suede Bag
• Nikon WA-E1 Extended Range Antenna
• Nikon MH-21 Rapid Charger
• SanDisk 16GB Compact Flash Card for over 5,800 Standard JPEGs or 793 RAW Captures!!!!
• SanDisk Compact Flash Wallet
• All Original Boxes and Booklets including Original, Unmarked, Warranty Card

I googled this, and it came up on craigslist in Chicago and Austin, and on ebay, where an item with the same exact wording in the ad sold for $5000 a few days ago.

Scam:

Here was one in Phoenix that I sent an email to the guy just to see if it was local or not here is his reply:

"Subject: Re: Nice looking Canon EOS-1D Mark II Digital SLR Mint Condition - $1200

Hello,

First I want to tell you that the product is brand new and very performant ,in unopened box, comes up with all accessories and the machine has international
transferable warranty.I will try to explain in few words my way to close this kind of transaction.First of all I think we must clear up the transport details. I usually use UPS 2days air insured service but if you have used some other services before, I'm waiting for your sugesstions.About the method of payment I can tell you that I've been using Western Union transfer for a long time and I am very satisfied of their services. In fact, I mean it never failed and all the time both of us (seller and buyer) were 100% proud of our choice.Let me tell you what is all about this method: you'll have to go to a Western Union office and transfer the money on my name.I also want to tell you that the package will be UPS insured and it will also have a return policy. In case something happens on the way and the product proved to be damaged, of course you will get theinsurance from the delivery service. As soon as the package arrives, you will test the product and if it doesn't match with your expectations, you must return it in max. 15 days since the arrival date. In this case I will send you the full amount back and you will also send me the product (the return costs will be on my charge).I will ship the
package from Italy and if you will decide to buy from me I will cover the shipping and insurance charges and you will only pay for money transfer comission.
Waiting for your answer!

Regards"

My answer was this:
"LOL No thanks but good luck with that…"
