Well, mariomel totally inspired me.

I hadn't gotten the camera out since the holidays and have just been in a real funk lately photo-wise. But after seeing the thread about how freakin' cold it is up in Canada, I decided I had nothing to complain about.

So, I decided to take my camera with me today since I had to go to work and to the university anyway. And I took pictures while I walked to places I already had to go anyway. Some turned out really well. Some, not so good. I wasn't really going for technical perfection; rather, I just wanted to do something to get my eye back in the swing of things. Call this practice.

Please take a look, if you'd like. I'm planning on "forcing" myself to shoot everyday things more and more until I get my inspiration back.

What else are people doing to get their gumption back?

I liked all of them but thoght the gerbil tube was most humorous and equalled out. Its neat that they were B&W too!

Very well done. I like your style. I like the bike and the gerbil tube the most. I like the shapes you got in some of the others too.

WTG muck. I'm so tired of people whining about the cold. Why should anybody let the weather stop them from shooting pics? Cold temps & snow are normal, natural occurances; they come around every year, get used to it. Think I'll go out now and shoot a "gerbil tube" shot.

I wouldn't say the cold nipped my inspiration in the bud...I had one of the best evenings of my young life last night sledding with my 7- and 3-year-old best friends...god, it was fun.

I've just really been in a funk and it's been hard to get up the effort to drag out the camera. I guess part of it is not really enjoying setup shots, and part of it is that I'm sick of begging people to pose for me. Plus, until the last couple of weeks, it's just been too dark after work to do any kind of shots outside.

Anyway, I brought my camera w/ me again today. I don't know if i'll be able to sneak out today or not, but I think I'm going to try to at LEAST drive around some at lunch and try some of that stoplight photography.

Just too much going on...gotta remember to "pay yourself first." That not only goes for savings accounts, but for free time too. :)

Of course, I'm about ready to just chuck the whole day and go sledding again. What a fantastic time....

sounds great mucky! glad you are a kid at heart. that is the only way to be.

for me, the cold has kept me from taking photos. and, yes, I have been whining about it... but the only thing that gets me thru the winter is knowing I can enjoy the hot tub at the health club after exercise.

I guess I don't enjoy winter the way I used to, and don't find inspiration in the dirty frost-bit ground, bare trees, and uninspiring gray sky that blankets us and the old city buildings and homes.

I'll wait for spring thanks ;)

"My Kingdom for a blade of grass!" I'm still insprired because I'm pretty new, however,I'm not a good enough photographer to make cold, gray, ice look good (is anyone?)Plus, I'm holed up here with two Jack Russell "Terrors"
If anyone doesn't know about these guys, they are energizer bunnys with too much caffeine.. So far, I've advoided submitting "pet" shots..but, I'm growing weaker by the moment.. and they are so damn cute...now if I could just get them to sit still... ;-}

muckpond, your photos are great. The tube is the best one.

Very nice shots, especially the gerbil tube. Also like the cold and lonely Bike and the perspective in Deserted.

Thanks to you and mariomel for your inspiration. I too am in a rut. It's been too cold in upstate NY to take outside shots, and hard to get inspired to freeze when I'm so busy here at work and it's so warm inside ;)

I'd be happy if people would take a moment and offer any comments on my regular shots in my portfolio though! The unfortunate part of this site is people don't do a lot of "browsing" or commenting on non-challenge photos except when a question is brought up.

OMG, I know exactly what everyone is referring to....This cold has got to snap. Isn't this like the coldest winter since like '77? Anyhow, down here in South Florida - we are currently at 55F and the wind is howling.....brrrrr..........

lol here it's actually -45 CELCIUS and there's a breeze coming through my office window so my right hand is frozen....and I have to wear hiking boots, sweaters, mits, the works while sitting at my desk so no one has to explain to my parents how I died of hypothermia inside.
