1. benjikan for his sharping method. Finally i have a way to make my images look sharper.
For example, this bokeh entry, the portion of image that shall be sharp looks beautifully sharp and crisp.

Be careful with benjikan's method in basic challenges, as changing a layer to soft light is not legal.

I did not create any layers.
I never do.
Its the sharpning parameters that he used. Gave me idea of how to do it.

They do help don't they? Glad to hear that you didn't make a layers mistake. Good luck with your score.

Benjikin's workflow is illegal in basic isn't it? Adjustment layers must be in normal mode?

Actually people misunderstood me. I said benjikan's method helped me. I did not say that I used it as it is. From his work flow I could understand what parameters I shall be playing with. Before that my sharpening method was just hit and trial.
I do not understand photoshop very much. (will learn when I get time). So I always work with basic editing rule. (for example this months free study, it was expert editing but I only used basic editing rule set. )

You know I feel that there are few fallacies. Many people believe that to score good at dpc you need to
1. know photoshop very good (it does help though)
2. you need dSLRs or some fancy equipment.

I feel if your photo has substance it would score well. The perfect example is my this month's free study. (scoring 6.5 around). I have done a very basic editing, but since its a strong subject I know would easily cross 6.

First most important thing is to take good photograph. I feel all the ribboners here, take good photographs. Photoshop skills only help in pushing the scores further (they do not make the photo fully).

This is the first time I've posted like this and after seeing the thread I thought it would be fun to watch.

It was nice to know that I'm not the only one who was suspect to people voting with all ones to bolster their score. I'm sure this has been said many times befor but, people should NOT be able to vote below four without being required to leave a comment. Things like D.N.M.C I.M.O. should not ever be considered a viable comment.

Sorry venting. :-} MAX!

IMO, this comment is DMNC for this thread. Peoples comments are what they are, don't bitch about them, learn from them. Close your mind at your own risk.

There are vote scrubbers and repeat/egregious offenders are booted, so don't start with the all 1's crap. Friend voting is policed and people have been booted for that also.

Struck a nerve here did I. If you read all the comment you would have seen that I also said I think it should be manditory to leave a ligitimate comment and not only put I.M.O. D.N.M.C. thses are hardly comments you can learn from wouldn't you agree?

You also have the benifit of longevity on this website and I have lots to learn, not the least of wich is not to speak my mind for I might offend. I'm hardly the first person to have said that and I'm sure not to be the last so keep your eyes peeled so you can give them what for and set them straight as you have me. You have great tact when it comes to commenting and getting your point across.

My thoughts were echoed earilier in this thread I believe it was refered to "Trolling" perhaps that is the phrase I should have used you were not offened by that.(you are right I am learning from your IMO comment) :-}

Sorry to have vented in your space it will not happen again.

I.M.O. you have put me on the right path.

Thank you for the lesson.

MAX!

Yes, it is illegal in basic. However, if you just use the USM settings and not use the layer set to Soft Light, it will help the detail and boost the contrast.

Since this is a score thread....my 100 vote report.
