Penguins of Madagascar

This is 10! For you dreamwork lovers, this is THE BEST one they have ever made, we never stopped laughing from the time it started till the time it stopped. it was just down right comical and a hoot... a very enjoyable and well worth movie to watch, rent and own. One of my favorites yet!

Maze Runner
This is a 7 from me..good story line, nice action and a good ending, looks like there will be a sequel coming up for this one, a good rental!

Imitation Game - great story - I was afraid I would be confused with too many mechanical details about the machine but the focus on the drama of the man's life was easy to follow. Sad, really sad, and made very real through some amazing acting.

Interstellar - quite fantastical, but started off with a believable enough story that I was able to stick with the movie all the way through. I am not big on space movies because they just make me very uncomfortable with all the vastness and unknown. Then this movie adds in some suspense of equipment problems in space with some evil folks, plus threw in the drama of a family and love. Almost too much for my emotions.

Very good. Creepy. Great acting by Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Bill Paxton.
Offers an eye-opening perspective of videographers, who are ambulance chasers/ crime journalists. Makes you think about us, as photographers.

Oh my, this was super creepy. Graphic parts weren't overdone so I found very watchable despite feeling a little sleazy watching. Great acting.

The Brothers Bloom

7 or 8 from us

Adrian Brody, Mark Rufalo, Rachel Weisz in an intricately plotted and remarkably amusing caper/con film. I like this sort of thing. "Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels" is one of my all-time favorites of the genre.

Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow

Spoiler Alert: Tom Crusie meets Groundhog Day, meets Starship Troopers ... among the worst movies I've seen recently

1984

This was the 1968 version with Richard Burton - I think the last movie he made before his death.

10-outstanding!

Interstellar - 7/10. Special effects were beautiful. Storyline was really good and moving. I was hoping for something on par with inception but it didn't quite measure up. Nolan has created a little niche with exploring the concept of time and this was no exception as it delves into the effect of relativity and space travel and it seems to make the viewer aware of this concept a bit to often. I felt he was holding my hand as the movie went along. Some movie goers probably appreciated that with the complexity of the concept but id have preferred to let me figure it out. Inception left you trying to figure the ending out and interstellar spoons feeds it too you so there is nothing to ponder at the end except the giant chicken/egg flaw that revealed itself.

Really good movie that could have been great if it didn't try so hard.

Big Eyes

8 out of 10

I have a list of directors, actors etc that if they are involved in a film, it is probably at the very least a decent enough time waster. Tim Burton and Christoph Waltz are 2 of the people on that list so I was eying Big Eyes as an \'I\'ll get around to it eventually\'. When I finally did, I was surprised how much I liked it. Waltz is brilliant as one of the sleaziest characters you will ever meet and Tim Burton does his usual great job of keeping everything surreal. Recommended if you have a decent enough time waster list too.

The great thing about life is that two people can see the same thing and react quite differently to it. Reaction is the product of the thing itself and the context it's being viewed within. Kind of like photos ... the same photo will get 10's and 1's.

As an anti-TomCruise Fan, I watched this film only at a friend's suggestion (okay...picture me tied to a chair with my eyes taped wide open), and to my surprise...I must confess it...I actually liked this movie!

Was the book good? Worth reading after seeing the movie?

it's an excellent biography but very comprehensive and very technical, not focused on one thing like the movie.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

This is a 6 and we enjoyed it. Not the best of the best but it was not bad either. It was truly, a good down, funny hearted, clean family movie and it had a lot of funny scenes in it. I kinda think if you liked the Diary of the wimpy kid you will love this. Finally, a decent movie with no swearing in it, no blood, fighting or gor. Just another way a movie can show life what could happen to ordinary folk and a lot I could have related to which made it even more funny. (especially with kids with teen drivers) Rambo dudes and the like will be bored stiff with this movie
Any age can watch it and feel good about renting it without no lashes or explaining to do.

Big Hero 6
I give this an 8. I was not to thrilled about seeing it, Disney movies are getting crazy lately, but what can you do when the boys buy it for themselves (or shall I say for their girlfriend), so heck free movie night.
This was super adorable and I loved it and it was funny. A true enjoyment and worth watching.

Exodus: Gods and Kings

Great for action and effects. For following the bible not so much, it was more of a glorified effect action movie of what they could not do for the original. The original was much, much better as far as the story line goes.. Either way, not the best but not bad either. 5

Home Sweet Hell

This movie had me entertained in the beginning then it just got plain weird. A high hoity toity life and what the wife expects to keep their life after they found out her hubby had an affair. It was a EH, kinda of movie, and a very, very strange ending in the end. Some of the things were pretty funny though and it was really good. IT def. is not one of those expect kind of movies, what I did like about it was that it kept you guessing till the end with the surprise turns and twists. I would call this a very, very dark comedy/drama. If you are offended by dark drama comedies, stay away from it, if you are a fan of it, you will love it.. I was kinda in the middle of eh its good to naaa, I don't care for it.. but either way, the story line kept me pretty entertained.Jim Blueshi was great in it and it was fun to see him act.. if it wasn't for the music, I think this movie would bust. 6

Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb

I actually liked this one better than the second one. 7.. We laughed a lot and it was more entertaining. the new exhibits they brought to life was a lot of fun to see, and seeing Robin Williams was a joy as always and seeing Micky Rooney play gus brought bittersweet feelings, it was a blessing to see their last roles. What was funny was a lot of the inside jokes which were pretty funny, and the caveman was just a hoot. A cute movie still great for kids. Def. Not a block buster but decent enough for a night rental. A lot of fun cute scenes which made me either laugh and smile. Worth it for me since I loved to see Robin Williams and Mickey Rooney.

mortdecai
Johnny Depp.. this is more of his funnier roles that we seen and we enjoyed it.. pretty funny movie and slower moving than what you would normally expect. 6

The Cobbler

First part of the movie was boring, yawn, yawn, not your typical Adam Sandler movie, but it did get funnier as the time went on.. just an avg movie with a decent plot. A good movie to see if your bored but nothing more to shout about.. 5

Kingsmen Secret Service
Pretty darn entertaining, some of the effects and things got pretty hokey esp with the exploding heads and music, otherwise without that It would be an 8 lol but it is a 7 for me..
We enjoyed the story line
