i'm rating it a 9/10!
this is one of those where Smith's role is so convincing you actually felt like you're watching a real person

"Pursuit of Happyness" - saw it, loved it. 9/10 from me as well.

and there's a reason why it is spelt wrongly too :) watch it to find out!
and Art, the overnite-at-the-train station scene was really powerful.

Yeah, I remember most of it. Ironically I got some dust in my eyes during that scene and spent most of it wiping that watery stuff that comes out. You know, when you get irritants in them. It may have even looked like I was crying. ...but I wasn't. dammit.

yea yea, and same for me, except i had godzilla fighting ultraman outside my room window and a stray laser zap from ultraman flew towards me and i dodged, but the static rubbed my eyes so i got some watery liquid on my eyes too. damn those superheroes, can they learn to aim properly? ;)

Michael Moore's Sicko - (not really a movie, but on a got-nothing-else-to-watch scale Id say 7/10)

Anchorman: 4/10

This film is crap. Absolutely, terribly, unapologettically crap. I rented it on the strength of Farrell's other roles like Blades of Glory, Talladega Nights (which wasn't great) and expected it to be entertaining in the least, but it just wasn't. The comedy is diluted, badly delivered, and the actors seem to have a hard time giving themselves to a script this weak so it comes off as self-conscious, like they know they're taking part in a sub-par creation but have to get through it as they signed the contract.

In 2 words: piss poor.

In 4 words: piss poor and disappointing.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford - 8.5/10

I was really impressed by the performances of both Casey Affleck and Sam Rockwell. It was filmed in a very impressive (visual) manner.

Rain Man: 6.5/10

Not bad... not bad at all. Cruise does a great job of playing an asshole and Hoffman (in his Oscar-winning role) is perfect and very convincing as an autistic guy.

Its kind of heart-warming, not amazingly happy but a good movie that covers topics such as familial sibling relationships, jealousy, frustration and living with mental illness.

Good stuff!

Twilight -- probably around an 8/10. Gonna watch it again with my little sis (if my parents allow, lol, they're being kind of ridiculous about it)...will pay more attention to the lighting, which I suspect of being fabulous!

Also saw Wall•E recently...lol so cute!! 10/10

Man on Wire (documentary) 9/10

In case it wasn't already posted it's about an incredible high wire stunt pulled off at the top of the WTC towers in NYC during the 70s. It details how they were able to sneak in and how they miraculously rigged the wires across the two buildings not to mention the mindboggling wire act itself.

Death Proof: 4/10

Nice first half but the second half is just abysmal. The New Zealand girl he got for the part is one of the worst actresses i've seen in a long time. She's great at stunts but acting isn't her thing.

Lord of the flies: 8/10

Different from the book but still shocking with some rather poignant scenes.

Yes Man: 7/10

Jim Carrey's new film. He's actually rather good in this, his rubber face routines are kept down to a minimum and the story is nice enough without going into 'Liar, Liar' territory. The main thing that let this movie down though was the female lead actress- she just isn't good enough to carry half of this movie.

I think you have to be a college student with a lame sense of humor to enjoy anchorman. Needless to say, I find it hilarious and I could watch it over and over.

watch Blades of Glory, then watch Anchorman and you'll see what I mean.

Or watch anything written & directed by Ben Still in the past 7 years and Anchorman just looks worse and worse.

Just not my cup of tea.

I just saw Gran Torino with Clint Eastwood and I must say, he's still got it. It's quite a good movie, and I would definitely recommend it. It's basically about an old man who's still stuck in the 50's and how he has to come to terms with the changing world around him. Namely, he has to deal with his own prejudices and preconceptions of people. I give it a 9/10

I was a girly mood, so rented Mamma Mia last night. Apart from the paper-thin plot, two-dimensional characters, Donna looking 10 years older than Sofie, not to mention being so incredibly daft that she couldn't figure out whom she got knocked up by (over the course of three months?!) not too bad. Fun costumes and great setting. 6/10.

All those flaws and a 6/10? I'd hate to see what's a 2/10...

Siam Sunset IMDB

8/10 Loved this movie.
From the back cover:

A British design executive, who seemingly has everything going for him has his life totally changed when a refrigerator falls from an aircraft and lands on his wife.

Well, about 4 of those 6 marks come from me being a rabid ABBA fan when I was a tween, dancing around my parents' living room and singing to the songs...*nostalgic sigh* :-)

Marley & Me 7/10 - I liked the book better but the movie was OK

Valkyrie 6/10 - Average, maybe higher if Tom Cruise wasn't the lead

Marley & Me - 7/10

We took the kids and now I feel like a schmo because one of them just bawled hysterically over the ending. Lots of similarities to our beagle's last days. But I was impressed with Owen Wilson. I kept expecting him to break out and be a typical smart-ass but he carried the character very well.
