We all know copying music from CDs for our slideshows is illegal.... right?

I just purchased several songs from this site. They are great and very inexpensive. Check them out:

Stock20.com creates high quality music for media production. If you create a free account using my referral link, they will give you a $7 store credit (which will get you one free song).

Here's how:
Click this link, then create a free account (it takes about a minute):

//www.stock20.com/gvr.php?rc=65xl2nv10033asd5v2x

You will get a gift certificate by e-mail for $7 of in-store credit.

Note: You can be assured that Stock20.com will not give away your info. They send out one e-mail per month when they release their new songs.

Very useful if the music you want is there.

This probably isn't the only site like this though.

//www.ntracks.com/catalog/
//www.fotosearch.ca/ - looks like this one only has links to other stock music sites (not a stock music site itself)

I don't know what these sites offer (found via google).

Anyone run across any more cool RF music sites?

I bought a couple more from Stock20 today - I do like the variety they have. :)

It's illegal if you sell it. It's not illegal for personal use.

Actually, interesting enough, it IS illegal for you to play the radio or any non RF (or purchased rights) music while you have clients in the studio. PPA gets calls about it all the time and you "COULD" get busted and fined for doing it. Its considered using the music for commercial purposes.

I thought you were talking about putting music behind a slideshow.. not playing the radio to clients... sorry.

I do use RF music for slideshows too, since I offer the DVD for sale to the clients.

Wait, are you telling me that having the radio on while taking pictures of someone is illegal? Come again? I must be misunderstanding something here.

Yup, that's right. Its considered 'using the music for commercial purposes'. Its the same for any business place. Ever notice you get canned music in most stores and NEVER radio stations? That's why.

Yup. Singing "Happy Birthday" is illegal too. Just look a the number of lawsuits over this one each year. lol

Well no.... The maths major in me requires that I mention that you need to hide 4 seconds somewhere to do that :-) Now you could speed up the playback a little [resisting the urge to put a percentage here] but some peoples ears notice stuff like that :0)

I guess sampling has been used before to avoid that but as far as I know they had some real stuff in there of their own. Now how much you have to have would be an interesting question :-)

Edit: Cause while I can do the maths.... I cannot figure out how to make my fingers type what I meant to say rather then what they think :-)

No, I'm pretty sure I hear the radio at my barber...

A little more reading confirms what you say, although it also said that 6 or more people in your back yard around a radio constituted a "public broadcast". I think this one sorta falls under the "oh well" category...
