I will be entering a photography contest for an Ice Fest Ice Sculpting competition held in my area. Photos will be 8x10 mounted on 11x14 mat. Subject can be anything related to the event and there is a special award for best black and white shot. Limit is two entries per person. Any imput would be appreciated. Here's the link to the album:

You have some excellent stuff in there... As I look at them, if these are cropped to the 8x10 ratio, you don't have much breathing room for matting.

I like ice4red the best :)

I like ice34 and ice20bw best. Those are really nice shots, it would seem to hard to get an interesting B&W photo of an ice sculpture. Good Luck with the contest! :-)

very cool stuff! Too bad about all the people around ruining some of the nicer ones. I like 6, 10, 12, & 22. Really good stuff!

ice14red, ice3red, and ice15rededit are my favorites for the contest. Most of these are great photos that show the art very well but I prefer the images that show a part of the event and help tell the story. Nice work.

If you can, mat the photo on front of a solid 11x14 piece of mat board, rather than behind an 11x14 with the 8x10 cut out

This is what I do for my camera club competitions when I have a tight crop

Ice14red is a great shot

Yeah...it was really crowded during the day event. Between the crowd and all the yellow caution tape, it was a challenge to get a pleasing composition. These guys move FAST too! Thanks everyone for your comments. They have been most helpful! :)

Agreed - This one is simple and clean. The whole focus is on the ice sculpture, how the light is caught in the ice and the image that creates.

I also like some of the photos of artists in action - composition isn't always great, but the facial expressions and the spray of ice from the tools is marvelous!

Thanks for sharing
