17 years ago, one of the world's best guitar players (blues and otherwise) had lost his life in a tragic accident.

I just remembered him, and how good he was. I'll be listening to some of his playing later today, to commemorate his life.

I remember turning the news on that morning with that being the first story I heard. Sad indeed. I was fortunate enough to see him three times. What amazed me was his ability to just let the ideas flow. He wasn't repetitive and never boring to listen to. RIP Stevie!

Jeez I rememeber that dreadful morning, I was in Southern California and listening the the radio at work. All the early reports was that Clapton had crashed, when the actual news came in, and it was SRV, it was devastating. Left work and took 3 days off.

RIP Riviera Paradise...

I never listened to him till I went to Jamaica a few years ago. This vet guy was living down there and he kept playing all these great songs and talking about Stevie Ray. He was high most of the time> Good choice in music though. When I came back from vacation I bought a couple of his cd's. I've left the same discs in one of my cd players ever since. Turn it on when I need a shot of mood enhancement.

I was at his last show, Alpine Valley in East Troy Wisconsin. We heard about it on the radio while we were still in the parking lot waiting to get out of the concert. The first report we heard said Eric Clapton was on the chopper with SRV however it turned out, He was only offered to fly out with him and choose to ride in a limo instead. Which was reported a short time later with confirmation that SRV had died in the accident. It was a very freaky feeling at the time when we all realised we had just seen his last performance.
