And the morning's news "Embattled Attorney General Resigns".

We have more than one? If the Embattled guy is gone, who's left? Embittered? :-)

I am in the Speed Free Study side-challenge, too (thanks, Jeff, for starting that side challenge thread, and I mean that honestly -- how it turned out was not your fault and I appreciated the original sentiment of it). I specifically worked hard at meeting the punisher's requirements with a shot that I liked in the end. I thought it would still tank, but right now it's on track to get into my top 5, and to bring all images on my profile page above 6.0. May not hold, but I'm no longer worried about it tanking. And I think that's pretty much the best response I could give to that whole thing!

My backlighting shot has a bunch of nice comments and is hovering at 5.9; I may not have many words to share lately (I'm working on that), but it seems my photography is doing okay.

Best, all,

Rob

Don I have a quick question, I recently requested a username change. How long does it take? I made my request yesterday early evening.

Just a note to all of Team Suck: if you change your username, send me a PM so I can update my challenge results scripts. The scripts look up entries based on user id, but then make {user} links with the name.

Jeb, great work selling those pics!

I wish!!!

No, that was just another thing on the long list of stuff that the coach takes for granted as part of her due for her being the coach.

And we pay to send the kids to cheerleading.

I didn't even get a thank you.

It's all about the fame! LOL!!!

Jeb, that is inexcusable, I understand it’s for the kids, but proper credit for those that helped should be expected.

It's extremely funny to me that you think I know the answer to that question. I have no idea.

:D I thought the same thing when I saw that. (no slight on you Alan, I just found it amusing)

The site owner picks the winners of monthly themed contests.

The current contest is "rural landscape," so I figure lots of us entered that recently and have something to send in.

Jeffrey, congrats, there were some great shots in the challenge, but yours is one of the best (I liked it when I saw it here, too!). Thanks for the link; definitely the right month for that theme for us!

Best,

Rob

It’s quite a possibility I am mistaken, I thought earlier this year you changed your username then changed it back. Then again I was new back then, and it could have been one too many beers.

Never happen!

For me, I'll tolerate it for my daughter as it makes things better for her and the other kids.

My kid and her friends will outgrow this team.

That I can bring some light and joy into the other families' lives......well, it just doesn't get much better than that.

And it's not just me and my photography.....it's *ALL* the cheer moms and everything they do from e-mailing, scheduling, ferrying kids about, doing car washes.........the coach just sees it as her due, and doesn't give out any credit for all the work we *ALL* do for the team.

We count on each other for support....and we get it from each other as we do it for the kids.

It's all good!.....8>)

The coach is a selfish, entitled prig......too bad about her luck.

It would be wrong for me not to share my gift with the other kids and parents......just because I have been graced with it.

*ALL* the parents constantly shower me with praise and gratitude for my photography.......just not the coach.

It doesn't exactly trouble me to know there are lots of people out there with lovely memories of their kids' accomplishments and special moments.....and it's all my fault!

Life is good!

I think they took no more than 2 days to change me from hotshot7 to snaffles.

PS: Just posted pic of Fifi walking for a banana, and shots of my house :-)

I'll see you your fantastic comment and spot you my DNMC. My fill-frame is sitting at about a 4.7

Greets, guys. I should be out walking this morning but alas, I'm sitting on my rapidly expanding derriere (free food is NOT a good thing in that respect) and checking in here at DPC. And apologies to Jeffrey and Catherine, who've heard some of this in our DPL team thread (yes, it's still going), but figured I'd share a bit more of the Iraq experience.

I have indeed discovered that the folks who come from this part of the world are NOT nuts for wearing clothing that covers their entire person. It really IS more comfortable than letting 115 degree heated air hit your bare skin. While here at the camps, we don't have to wear body armor (thank goodness), but any time when traveling in Iraq we do. That includes fixed wing, rotary wing, and convoy travel. There is no going "outside" in civilian vehicles at all. The cars (SUVs - lots of gas here) that we use on the camps are all shipped in from surrounding areas. And they're driven to death - roads here are not exactly pristine when you have very large heavy sometimes tracked things driving on them every day. While one of the guys I work with is on R&R, I've had access to his vehicle which has allowed me to go shooting (with the camera). When he gets back, my photo trips will sadly come to an abrupt halt, and none of the more scenic parts of the camp is in walking distance, especially with the heat.

My favorite part so far, though, is talking with the young folks while waiting in line at the Cinnabon for my morning coffee. I enjoy that part immensely. (And yes, we have a Cinnabon; we also have another coffee joint in other parts of the camp, we have Popeye's Chicken, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Subway.) Time still moves very slowly here, it seems, and I still don't sleep all that well, but the accomodations are fine, laundry is free, food is free, and I really have nothing I can complain about. :-)

wish us luck, all - taking the dog for an operation tomorrow - he snapped his humerus in two. foolish beast mistook a large rock for a cat and charged it full speed. he's lying on many cushions in the living room, and will be crated for the 4 hour drive to the veterinary college hospital tomorrow. gah. last thing any of us needs. i' sure he fells this way too. i hope the drugs keep him dopey through three provinces...
08/27/2007 10:08:04 PM · #72
Awwww.... my thoughts are with your beast, Christian. He's a trooper, though - I'm sure he'll do fine. Now who painted the ears on the rock so as to confuse the poor fellow?
08/27/2007 10:16:55 PM · #73
Good luck, Christian. Be sure to let us know how he is doing.
08/28/2007 05:15:17 AM · #74
well, he survived the night - didn't move an inch. we're worried about internal bleeding. he will ride on the front passenger seat (flattenend out) into the city, to pick up a friend and a dog crate, then she'll drive and i'll comfort all the way to PEI - that's the width of nova scotia, a quater of new brunswick, and a very long bridge.

fingers crossed.

just checked - it's a 320k trip - one way.

Wow, Christian, what a story - and what a drive! But at least it's a very scenic bridge, maybe you can get some pictures :-)
