I would think the best place to meet would be at pizza pizza restaurant. It is on the right side in plain site when you get off the ferry. There are outdoor seats there where we can meet, or have a pop while waiting for arrivals.

What time would everyone like to meet?

ETA what happens if it rains?

Any time is good for us.

Where do you park for the ferry ? Is there a cost for parking ?

The ferry termimal is at the very foot of Bay st. (where it ends at the water)

There are a few public parking lots around there, I prefer to park underground at the hotel which is on the northwest corner of Bay and Queen's Quay.

It is Toronto after all, so yes, there will be a fee for parking. As long as there is not an event nearby on that day the parking rate is usually a flat rate of around $5 to $10. . If there is an event in the area that goes up to about $20. .

The published directions on the ferry site says:
Walk / Drive

Main entrance at foot of Bay St on Queens Quay. Enter through park and enter via walkway between Harbour Castle Westin Hotel and Harbour Castle condominiums. Parking is available 1 block north at Lakeshore and Bay, 1 block west on Queens Quay between Bay and York Sts, 1 block east opposite Toronto Star building adjacent to Captain Johns restaurant.

Going east on Queen's Quay, go past the ferry docks, past Yonge Street, and take the second right (Cooper St., just past the LCBO). There's a huge public parking lot there on the right as you drive north, and it only costs $5.00.

Edit: It's always $5, whether there's anything going on or not.

Google Maps link to Cooper St., near ferry and parking. Turn on Hybrid to see a satellite photo of the parking lot.

Thank you !

So - what time do we meet ? I can't take my crew into a pizza place as my son has an anaphylactic allergy to dairy - but I can post a watch on it.

Not that I'm actually going or anything, but I think you should meet at twelve noon. :-)

An earlier time like 10 AM works best for me. That way I can be home in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

I was actually thinking we should meet in the table area outside of the pizza place. would that be ok?

Just to be clear, we should be taking the "Center Island" ferry as opposed to "Hanlan's Point" or "Wards Island", correct?

It's been a while since I have been to the island :)

Okay - so we are to meet at the table area outside the Pizza Pizza at 10:00 AM on October 6th, to then proceed to the Center Island ferry on foot.

Is this correct ?

Kashi, the Pizza Pizza is on the island. You'll see it when you disembark the Centre Island ferry.

Confused yet? :-)

I think you're meant to get to the ferry docks, take the Centre Island ferry (it's the one in the centre, conveniently enough), disembark, and find the nearby Pizza Pizza.

As you can tell - I have never been to the Toronto Islands before (odd since I grew up in Belleville - which is not very far away at all).

SO, revised :

Park
Take self and accompaniments across Center Island ferry
meet fellow DPC'ers at the Pizza Pizza on the island

Have I got it ??

Do we have a back-up plan in case of rain ?

Where you coming from? Where's you're hotel, or the street you're staying on? How are you getting around? (Car, TTC, etc.)

staying at the marriot bloor/younge, so i'll be ttc-ing it. or walking, whichever is fastest. how is the ttc map so stunningly confusing? i've lived in london, taken public transport all over england, in paris, johannesburg, botswana, malawi, new york and boston, and the ttc map has, so far, stumped me.

What you'll need to do is to head south down Yonge to the lake - to Queen's Quay. Then head west to the ferry docks. Google maps makes it look about 4.5 KM.

She's right. Walk to the Bloor/Yonge subway station. You simply can't miss it from your hotel. Take the Yonge/University/Spadina line subway south to the Union Station stop. Exit the station on Bay Street, and walk south to Queen's Quay, about ten minutes. The ferry docks are across the street, toward the lake.

You could take the streetcar RT from Union Station to Queen's Quay if you don't want to walk, but the wait is long and it could be confusing, and you'll need to get a transfer when you get on the subway at Bloor/Yonge. I hate that RT. >:-(

At the docks, take the Centre Island ferry to the island, look for the big Pizza Pizza place, and find familiar faces.

If it wasn't 10am, I might go, but I live in Burlington and I'd have to leave my house at 8:30am on a Saturday to get to the island on time and that ain't gonna happen. :-P

"10 am? that's a bit keen, innit?"

My last name is Eger (pronounced Eager) ;) hehe

Majority rules here people. 12 noon is great.

I am still not sure if I will be able to make it, so best make plans around when most people are available. :)

12 noon works fine for me too.

Ok. noon it is. :)

I will be the guy with the bewildered look on his face and the heavy camera bag and monopod.

If anyone wants to exchange cell #'s it might be a good idea to do so through pm's. Just in case you get there late and cannot locate the people that you have never seen before....you could call and get hooked up. :)

Feel free to pm me for mine. (and please a name to go with the # might be good to, so we do not have to ask for xianart for example. lol)
