What are the best brand of AA batteries for SB-600 speedflash. I currently use the rechargable duracell ones, I think these batteries are the reason my speedflash LCD light blinks on and off for no reason. |

I've been using the Energizer e2 Lithium noticeable difference in cycle time between fires with normal Energizers and the e2's worth the extra money IMHO.

Get NiMH rechargeable batteries, they handle high load currents better than alkaline batteries and will cost you less in the long run than lithium batteries. I use Energizer 2500 mAh NiMH batteries in my flash (not a Nikon). |

I use the Energizer 2500mah rechargeables in my SB600. I haven't used the flash often enough to know how long they are good for. But, if you continue to have problems with the LCD after changing batteries, I would take it back to where you bought it and have them look at it. |

I bought the rechargeable energizers from sams club...I think they were 2400 Nimh...worked like a champ. You can probably get close to 150-200 shots. Just keep 4 spares in your bag. When you run out of juice, swap them, go home, recharge overnight, and throw them back in the bag. |

To see if your chosen batteries are really causing the problem, just try a different brand/type - then you won't have to guess.
ditto the energizer rechargeables...
ETA - they can also be bought with an (advertised) 15 minute charger; it only charges to 80% capacity in that time, but still provide a FULL charge in only 30 minutes

I use duracells I think the rating is 2650 on these but without looking I am not 100%. They work great. Last a long time and only take a few minutes to charge.

I swear by Maha's Powerex line (using to be called MahaCells). The current line is 2700 mAH. Don't be scared off if you've never heard the name -- they're well-respected, just not big name/marketing. I've been using them for at least 10 years.

Here is where I have gotten mine in the past. |

Another vote for PowerEx 2700 mAH's. I use them for so many things at this point, including my Canon 580 flash. I wouldn't go on photo trip or even out back without them. :)
I also use the PowerEx 8-battery charger with them.
Both of them (and majority of my gadgets!) I got from the NatureScapes.Net Store.

definatly get recharable batteries no matter what. I dont know anything about the different brands, but i got some recharable batteries that came with a wall charger that fits in my camera case and they work out great. and they last probably twice as long as non-rechargable batteries. for 4 batteries and a charger, it cost me about $35. |

i've been using duracell 2650mAH rechargables... their easy enough to find w/o having to order them online... they come w/ a 15 min quick charger, which is nice to have when you forget to charge them before an event... |
