I have been trying and trying...maybe 9 times already but haven't got any ribbon yet. I was 4th twice but who cares? I guess I am too much of a point-and-shoot person but then again, maybe, maybe next time. Personally, I am just happy sharing some scenes from my side of the world to the DPChallenge folks.

5th and no ribbon for me. :(

There are far more of us with no ribbons than there are with, LOL - I've entered 16 challenges now and not even close to a ribbon - but that's okay! I got Steve's digi's POTD yesterday, and get positive feedback from family and friends - plus I have several pix in my portfolio that *I'm* happy with, so hang in there!

I got a second place on my 27th entry. It was the first week I submitted with my new camera. It took me til the 37th to get a blue ribbon with this pic

For me, I didn't take photography at all seriously until I stumbled onto this site and started competing. But not everyone is a photography novice even if it is their first challenge. But sometimes, like me, you just get lucky.

I'm on my 3rd entry and I haven't come close. The closest I have gotten to the top is 94th place. But is fun none the less, that is why I joined!

Just have a look at the Ex-winners webpage and there you find the answer.

Speaking of "newbies":

I can't claim that I found this but thought it germane to the discussion at hand. The new 3rd place winner, JJBeguin, now has 18 ribbons with a pretty equal distribution. Congrats to him.

pretty easy to see that coming...first entry winners seem to disappear a lot (think Jonpink was the first to call this one).

Anyway, prolly not fair to call it cheating...maybe just misunderstood the rules? I know they're posted and I know he clicked the "I understand" boxes and all that, but still...give benefit of the doubt where it's due.

Check this thread by DREW sounds like cheating to me when you try to alter your exif data. What I cant figure, is why do it, for a virtual blue ribbon? come on

yes "spikedsparkles" did get booted.. But i know him "we are friends" and from what i can understand it was from the EXIF data being tampered with.. I'm not saying he didn't do it, but i don't think he did.. Because not to long ago i was having the same problem. And we have the same cam.. Everytime i upload my photos the date is different.. Like last week i took a photo and uploaded it and "i think the date was the 8th" and well i kept that image on my memory card, and when i uploaded it agin, it had the current date set on it.. "not the date i took it".. so i think thats what happend to his.. he first though one of the programs he was using to edit his images was resetting it, but we couldn't find none of the programs since we got rid of them form errors.. But i've been calling sony about this problem, and they haven't responded to any of my questions.. And from what i can understand, some of people on here that i've been talking to have had simular problems.

plus "for the people that said he did it to win".. i don't agree with cheating at all.. i mean its not like you get a prize on this site for winning.. But editing the EXIF data doesn't actually help you win, the votes help you win, editing the EXIF data just tells what date it was taken and stuff.. But eather way editing anything your not too is cheating.
