If you like retrogressing, go ahead and get the Sony. You lose the f2.0 lens, the big rotating viewfinder, the industry standard Compact Flash cards, optional on AND off-camera high power flash, optional wide angle and tele converters, shutter speeds as slow as 15 seconds (Sony only goes to 2 seconds), fine-grain ISO 50 capability, HUGE lithium-ion batteries, the Aperture priority and Shutter priority options, the controls that have a family resemblance to the best-selling EOS Digital SLRs and the solid feel of a quality camera.
The Sony is cuter and has a few more pixels, but if you want control over your camera, and features to grow into, the G2 is an amazingly good camera. Unless you're making poster sized enlargements, there's little reason to retire the Canon for an extra megapixel of image. |
