Ok so one week in and I think I am going paranoid already.
I dont know whether it actually is sensor dust because I opened it up and raised the mirror for cleaning and I couldnt see it with my naked eye.
So I thought I'd ask folks here as I dont know where else to go.

Here are some pics where I noticed it.

Dust Pictures (please go through 'Dust 1' through 'Dust 6')

There are basically 4 specks which I noticed. In one of the shots I even used a slow shutter trying the zoom motion stunt and the specks remain in the same place. Which makes me believe that those are indeed sensor dust/marks.

My worry is how did they appear within a week?
How to remove them?
Should I return the lens and get a new one? (the return policy here is a tough one)
How to prevent them from happening again?

I should add one little detail. Yesterday I had kept the camera in an Air conditioned room (15 deg C) for a while and then walked out with it on to the beach (ambient temp being 28 deg C). This caused condensation on the UV filter on the lens and even inside. I wiped the filter with a cloth but didnt touch the inside apart from opening it and checking it. I assumed that the sensor might have had the same effect and but refrained from even looking at it cos I was out in the open. Would this have had any adverse impact?

Just worried.

Actually, I think those are birds! ;)

seriously, they look like dust or other contamination. Not uncommon, nor is it all doom-and-gloom. Sometimes, a gentle puff from a bulb blower will remove them (hold camera upside down to help them fall away from sensor). But be gentle. Don't used canned air.

As to a more rigorous cleaning, I use the copperhill method and have been happy with the results. Copperhill Sensor Cleaning There are competing products as well. A simple search of these forums should yield many posts.

Phew!
Thanks a ton Steve.

I noticed a few marks or dots or I dont know what on the inner glass of the lens on the outside as well as the inside right now. I dont know whether that will create such effects.

I will try and get my hands on a bulb blower, and ask around for that lens cleaning kits. We dont get it in the normal market here for sure. I'm still not sure how it got there though :-(

Remember the GOLDEN RULE too, never change or remove your lens with the camera switched ON the sensor is charged and will act like a dust magnet. ALWAYS TURN YOUR CAM OFF BEFORE REMOVING THE LENS

Sorry if this is obvious.. but needed a mention anyway..
