The results for the 'Triumph' challenge have been recalculated, due to the former blue ribbon shot having a datestamp of 2005. Congratulations to our new 3rd place winner, and PLEASE remember to check your camera datestamps before shooting!

Perhaps or maybe they were both in voting before the first time state infraction was revealed.....maybe.

I hope you posted with tongue-in-cheek.

Should make some people happy.

THAT seems really odd.
Either all the D200 shots he's taken are date-stamped wrong, or the D200 has been out a really long time.
Was the camera sent in for repairs lately and the date got messed up? How does a camera's date change?
??

BTW - Do you ( goc) have the longest streak of 6+ challenge entries without a ribbon?! My gosh - 23 straight 6+ !!! Impressive. :D

How about if we bump the photo size restrictions by about 15K (i.e. 165K instead of 150K) and then require that EXIF data be included in every challenge submission?

Then the website itself could check for the obvious mistakes and warn people right up front...

Man say it ain't so... :-(

Sorry to see that but image sure has prompted a great discussion.

But once you've edited the shot and saved it as a jpg, how do you re-insert the EXIF data?

More irrelevant calling out. What difference does Goc's score make? What difference does humming bird guy's scores make? While I think Goc's suspicions are nuts, having high scores is not an indicator of fair or foul play. Seem to remember other high scorers getting the axe...

If you don't use save for web the exif gets saved with the JPG.

BTW, I like the idea, especially coupled with the parsing of EXIF to fill in info fields.

Huh?! I was making a sincere compliment. His streak of consecutive 6's IS impressive, at least to me. Perhaps it was out of context for this thread, but certainly not a "calling out". Just something I noticed and was moved to comment on.

edit - CRUD! I just noticed I had toggled the sort by score (high to low) in the profile page. My bad. So, no "streak" for goc...still some healthy scores in there. :P

The main battery, no. The internal one, yes, but on that new of a camera?
Has anyone had to change their internal camera battery in less than 2 years?

Could there be hanky panky here? Hope not!
08/10/2007 12:37:06 PM · #22
Dunno about DSLR's, but I know that I can leave the batteries out of my P&S for ages without resetting date, but NOT indefinitely. After a certain point I guess the time battery is put into shut-down mode too?

I guess we won't know for sure until/unless he tells us what happened :)

That's the one I meant. Though as someone else mentioned, some cameras don't have a distinct, removable date battery. Or the internal battery could have died, or someone clicked the option, or the camera reset to the factory defaults.

Plenty of reasons why a date might reset.

OK, I can't be the only one wondering about this.

I mean date sorting the challenges:

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 10

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 27

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 27

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 21

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 16

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 10

EXIF present, dated 2005 - 07 - 06

It's obvious no foul play is happening here, just his camera is set wrong and hasn't bothered to correct it, even after getting disqualified the first time. Seems I owe Jeff an apology for jumping to conclusions.

Now fix that dang Nikon will ya!

JEFF DO WHAT BRAD SAID AND CHANGE THE DATE ON YOUR NIKON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
