My DPL team suggested to stay away from selective desaturation, but I liked this version (I hadn't yet cleaned up the text when I abandoned it):

levyj413, I would have preferred the selective desat version. It was one of the better photos in the challenge, truly according to what I thought was the street challenge.

Here is my entry, and alternative processing of the same.

Would it have made any difference? (better than bottom 15)

I actually liked this one but it wasn't quite sharp enough where it mattered:

Srdanz, I don't think the processing mattered, but composition did. It might have done better if you'd been able to keep the folks on the right. The fact they're facing right while the subject couple faces left might've added some interest, along with a title like "Opposite viewpoints."

I cut off the bottom of both. =( Lesson learned...

Another one I took the same day:

For a while I thought about submitting this one though:

I actually had intended to use this one, but after much back and forth with myself, was afraid it looked too posed.:

Don't be paranoid - the thread is autogenerated after a challenge.

Yes, she is a 'Street Person'. During the challenge one commenter suggested that I get up the nerve to talk to 'these people' in person. Well, I do. I work in 911 Emergency Medicine - I 'meet' them everyday. I only wish it didn't seem rude to me to take pictures while I was at work.

Can someone explain how this is street photography. I'm not trying to be mean I just don't see street photography yet it did really well in the challenge.

Can you explain why it isn't street photography? Maybe if you read the comments it will help you understand why it went so well.

I liked your entry very much - a good photo that stands alone outside of the challenge. The out-take is also good - possibly even better in terms of the challenge, capturing the quirkiness of something mundane and 'every-day'. Good work, both.

I never entered... our server in town was down for the count that day and never got a chance to upload.

This was a my choice, although I had another one that focused in on the two guys getting haircuts - they look like a father/son duo.

Great challenge with some wonderful images.

I love this shot, mostly because it is not a "typical" street shot. Street photography has a pretty wide definition, by the way. But, this was definitely one of my favorites.
