I had to Google to figure out you were talking about dreamstime.com. I can't get to it either.

Maybe their hosting service expired and they just haven't renewed yet.

Might only be fotolia.de, but they changed something about the keywording; lots of my files cannot be found any longer (at least with a search in german), some other bugs, too: uploading didn't work for a week or so; in their messages sold files are no longer mentioned by name but only by number; the ranking doesn't work properly etc...

The problems at Fotoliaa are worldwide. Their search engine is bizarre. Apparently they have to actually put the keyword into the system or the keyword won't be recognized. Someone reported the other day that if you try and search on "Christmas," you get zero results!

Dreamstime now has a message up:

"Dreamstime is unavailable for the moment due to a hardware failure. Our engineers are currently working to restore the data, however, at this time we cannot estimate the necessary amount of time required."

Try searching for "mango", all you get is pictures of the Statue of Liberty...

Cool! :)

The Istock "tag" system makes for some pretty funny "conversions" too. Search on "raster" and "rastafarian" is the search tag you get :)

sounds like where i want to do business. i imagine if i were to be as creative with my keywords as the site folks are with their search criteria, they wouldn't take kindly to it...

go to my site, //www.route108.com/wp and search for dogs, or vermont, or fuego, or beastlie boys... jeez

I asked them about that issue a while back, see the question and the answer I received below:

I have noticed that when a "search" is run, the results are not accurate. For instance - I search for Chicago, and only 74 matches are returned, which is unreasonable in and of itself. But, many of my files are of Chicago and have the keyword Chicago, but they do not show up in the search.

Same if you do a search on "Grand Canyon", only 29 results are returned.

Am I doing something incorrect?

Thanks in advance!

Maya,
We apologize for the inconvenience. Our search engine currently displays as a "search result" only the first 7 keywords associated to the image. Try searching your image by entering the first 7 keywords you entered that are associated with that image.
Soon this will be fixed and all keywords that are associated with the image will come up as a search result.

That kinda, somewhat makes sense. It still doesn't explain why no images came up for one rather irate woman on the forums. I doubt that all Christmas images don't have that keyword in the top 7 ;) I also tried searching for "cyclist" or something related that surely would have been placed in the top 7, but came up completely empty.

The funny thing is that their attitude seems to be, "Lazy buyer! Use the categories!" This has got to be killing their overall sales.

Dreamstime is running again now.

Edit: Just checked - I'm still getting that message on the front page, but if I try the profile for a particular photographer, I can get in that way. Wierd.
