I know there are many of us out here. When was the last one and how did I miss it!!?! LOL.

It baffles me how I live close to many DPCers and have not met a single one!

Any ideas or suggestions? Who is up for one?

Love the Idea.

Lots of great photo opportunities here in San Diego. I can organize sunset trip on a sailboat for up to 10 people or I donít mind to drive for a few hours to some other places.

I'd be interested if we're talking So Cal...I'm in Valencia.

Some people got together a couple years ago at the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve which I couldn't make it to, but I'd be up for a gtg if my schedule permits. Let's see how many people reply and try to work out a day and place. I'm usually a loner-type shooter, but I haven't been out shooting much of my own stuff lately and it would be nice to just get out there and hang out with other photogs (and of course one of my team-mates too). You're down in Huntington, maybe Newport/Laguna would be a nice place. Lots of photo ops down there.

I'm interested in a So-Cal GTG. I'm in San Diego along with several other DPCers.

We did one in L.A. on June 30. We used to have regular L.A. DPC GGs but they kind of fell off. I set up a basic forum for So Cal specifically. It's fairly new so not too many members, but the idea was to get a central website together for Southern California specifically. You can check out our recent outing info HERE. or feel free to suggest your own outings.

Orange County, anyone? I'm in Huntington Beach, but can drive a somewhere not too far away. My weekends are pretty full, but given advanced notice, I can make time.

Also, I'm commuting to San Jose for a while (Mondays through Thursdays), so if there is a Silicon Valley GTG in the evening during the week, I can probably make it. Heck, if there is a San Francisco GTG on the weekend, I can probably arrange to stay up here that weekend.

you are all over! Well cool!

Perhaps some of you natives will have suggestions on where to go. I'm still sort of a newbie to the West Coast... actually coming up on my one year anniversary August 10th!

For San Diego, I would say Balboa Park. Great place to shoot. Plants, architecture, museums, the zoo. Lots of subject matter.

My boy and I stopped in Valencia for lunch on Sunday after going fishing at Castaic. I love that town!

here are a few suggestions:

-North County San Diego >> lots of best kept secrets around there in Encinitas and Cardiff and stuff. lots of really laid back people who just love the beach and live simply. it seems to create a really neat atmosphere and a cool environment for photos. theres a dog beach in del mar that is always a good time. also, staying in north county keeps you away from most of the touristy san diego stuff like sea world and the zoo... those places are overcrowded and overrated in my opinion.

-San Francisco >> endless opportunities for any kind of photography. the place is filled with some of the most interesting people around. also, its a nice place to ditch the heat. plus you've got all the neat buildings and bridges and all that. everything in san francisco is timeless. i was there last week for 2 hours at the most and i filled up my card with photos and probably could've filled up 20 more in that time. everything there is so photogenic. especially the street people.

Mammoth >> huge mountains. crystal clear lakes. rivers. streams. valleys. lots of wild life. amazing tree colors in the fall. small town atmosphere. crazy weather changes. its a lovely place, really.

-Santa Cruz >> lots of seascape and people opportunities. theres a cool lighthouse there and always a lot of interesting folks hangin' around the boardwalk making hemp jewelry and lord knows what else. also, there are some nice surf spots around there if you're interested in doing some action shots... but, in the summer the waves might not be too awesome.

I'm not a California native (I'm a South Florida boy), but have been in SoCal for about 14 years and love it.

At any rate, it seems you know Orange Co, so I won't go into details about that area, but (as Shannon says) north San Diego county has some cool, quaint towns such as Encinitas and Solana Beach. Just head down South Coast Highway 101, starting at Carlsbad and you'll see!
