Do any of you know of any other photography competitions similar to this site? This site is good but I am finding the voters here narrow minded and immature.

I hate to point this out but any online photo competition that allows public voting is going to have narrow minded immature voters. This is one of the better sites (if not the best?)

Anyways....I was on an another site before I came here (heck if I know what the name of it was) but it was a sort of "photo of the day" format. Voting was on a scale from 1 to 5. No one got anything other than 4's and 5' because the voters there cherry picked and only voted on shots that they liked. The comments stunk because you would get "nice shot" or "ok". The shots that won were by the same photographers everyday.

Thats just my opinion however.

I know I'm narrow-minded... I'm not sure exactly how immature, but I'm sure I am to some degree.

Welcome to the internet. If you find a site populated by nothing but perfect mature individuals, be sure to let us know.

You mean ... the voters here actually have their own opinions? How narrow minded can they get!

Keep in mind that the same immature and narrow minded people are who you are throwing that question to. :)

certainly not narrow-gutted now-a-days... I guess it's about time for me to start expanding my mid-section and shrinking my mind... LOL

I started that a couple of years ago...I think they call it middle-aged spread or some other horrific term!

One competition but not anything of DP nature is Red Bubble

You are asking to play golf in a public course with private course features and services.

Even we pay here, since it's also open to public, free, there will be other people who are not so mature on photography voting, or entering. I am not sure if there are internet sites similar to this one, but there many other photography clubs, much more private, and bit more expensive, local based which you can find more mature people (photographer) and evaluate your photos that way instead.

I like public vote, and immature votes. Everyones view counts for me :)

Back to the narrow minded thing...

I think "narrow minded" is what one person usually calls another, when the other fails to agree with the first person's opinion. Failing to realize that the first person, by definition then, is equally narrow minded for not agreeing with the second. So wouldn't it be great if ALL opinions were respected and appreciated? And that when we encounter someone who disagrees with us, we could thank them for not being afraid to voice their opinion?

I'm not immature...I'm not I'm not I'm not.

But, seriously. I doubt you'll find ANYPLACE that doesn't have it's share of immature and/or narrow minded people. I'm not sure where your comment came from, you have some good shots in your portfolio that got respectable scores.

A previous comment brings to mind forgoing the whole internet spiel and going for a live honest to goodness photoclub. The crowd tends to be a little more mature and you don't have voting. You have judges. Of course I do both...

I dont get it... you are essentially asking the voters for another site? The narrow minded voters?

I hear ya, man. If you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen. Quite sure that you would be hard pressed to find a better site tho.

You might want to check out PhotoSig.com. Not exactly like DPC, but not narrow minded at all. In fact some of the denziens over here call it PornoSig. ;) I have no use for it as you really have to have instant-hit, eye popping images to get any comments. You also have to time your insertion of images to when max number of people will be viewing. To much trouble for me. Maybe when I start shooting studio nudes in the next few weeks, maybe....

I predict this thread is going to get very intereting. I've got ring-side seats!
