My votes for location would be (in no particular order):

Regents Canal / Little Venice, London
Oxford, Oxfordshire
Eagle Heights, Kent

Though the East End & Docklands are on my doorstep and therefore hard for me to say no to.

Second canal/little Venice, especially if we extend to Camden Lock and the very boho area too (not essential though :-)

Either of the days seem ok to me at the moment. I'll probably just make one saturday though, not a whole weekend, to save on expenses :)

What's the latest on dates? I will be there the weekends of 8th/9th and 15th.

There's a chance that I could make the 8th or 9th since I'll be en route to Italy for business.

Well, looks like the Chelsea Village hotel, in central London is going to be my home for the weekend, now if we could just get some dates...

If anybody else is from/going to be in Central London, please give a shout...

The most popular date has been 8/9th Sept weekend, so I've chosen Sat 8th Sept (please shout if you'd prefer the Sunday!). As for locations, Little Venice seems most popular so far, so please let me know what you think!

The 8th it is. Hope it is a little cooler than in Atlanta!

*bump* for the decided date.

Does anyone know their way around Little Venice? I tend to get lost when travelling that far away from the city... (!)

I may be able to join you, dependant on getting a cheap day return rail ticket....

hanae and I will be there too. looking forward to seeing the new faces as well as the old ones again.

I've had a look at the National rail site, and it does look like a possibility - what sort of time would I need to aim to get to KingsX for, and what would be the best time to book for going home?

Hmm... times... I suspect it'd be easiest all round if we met up around lunchtime (perhaps have some food too) and then go out shooting.

If the date has not been set in stone I would rather do the Sunday as I am shooting a blasted wedding on Saturday (found out 3 minutes ago) sorry if it's a royal pain the bottom Hope it can be done otherwise we have to miss this one and that will be blooming sad.

A catastrophe might happen and you might have to endure my presence after all. I'm getting a bit fed up with Luxembourg.
Edit: I'd also prefer Sunday as a date, but then again, public transport's a mess on Sundays.

Cool, it'd be great to see you again! I've checked the planned tube works, and its fairly minor that weekend (both Sat & Sun are the same), so either day is doable...

Everyone else, let me know when & where! :)

Let's do the Sunday instead and we can laugh at MAK when he runs out of juice after forgetting to recharge his batteries from the Sat wedding. I don't imagine that the photographic opportunities will be much different.

That's a point.... thanks for reminding me..

I won't be able to make the Sunday - trains take too, too long (over 5 hours for what should be a 2 hour journey!) and are more than twice as expensive, and no funds for an over-nighter at the moment. Look forward to meeting you all at the London GTG no 11 though!

Looking at the timetables, the trains on that Sunday from York to London are only 3 hours there, and between 2-3 hours to go back...

Agh, I was really looking forward to meeting you guys this time around. Sadly Sunday is not doable for me so I'll have to skip it.

Maybe next time......

Hey guys, which day suits me better really shouldn't influence the decision as I can't tell for sure yet whether I'm coming or not.
08/16/2007 11:12:08 PM · #73
I am open...either day works for me. (Gotta get out of this Atlanta heat!)

OK, it's looks like Sun 9th Sept and Regents Park / Little Venice are our best bets. I'll look into finding a good meeting/eating place...

I'm in... As said before, I'll be at the Chelsea Village Hotel, downtown, from Friday evening if anybody is around...

See you good folks then.

Tom; I'm sure glad I won't be the only "colonial" present...

Ooops; Change of plans. No rooms there, so I'm booked at the Club Quarters, St. Paul. Apparently right next door to the cathedral. Anyway, offer still stands for a pint o'lager!
