I'm interested, but will need to see how the dates and locations pan out.

I'll keep an eye on the thread.

Thanks,

MAK, it'd be great to see you and Hanae again, updated the OP to include you both.

Mike, sorry to hear that you've decided not to come.

I would be interested...I am heading to LON periodically to do some work on the Olympics, was just there for couple of weeks (first time) and blown away by the great ops for photos. Set the date and I will try to plan around my work to be there.

I talked to Eagle Heights in Kent to see if they could do something for us. They have a photography day package with falconer and good access to the birds and a dedicated falconer for £99 per head, which is probably a bit much for a GTG event. But they did say that you get really good access as a member of the public and most people find that to be quite enough for photography purposes - at £7.50 per head, this might be one more option.

£99pp is probably too steep for most, but £7.50pp is worth considering. I've added it to the list.

It would´ve been great to get to a london gtg but alas, I´m away til the 7th and busy that following weekend. Shame its not a week later.

So.. I regretfully withdraw my "maybe".

Have a good time, however!

Great! Selfishly, I hope it ends up being the weekend I can join!

I'm 90% in for September. August might be a bit dodgy, as I'm working until the end of this month.

The only thing that might get in the way is moving house, but I should be done with that by the first week of September.

So yeah, sounds cool to me!

Dave, it'd be great to see you again, added you to the OP.

Since time is moving on, and most people seem to be busy this month, I've cut it down to just the September dates. Anyone have a particular preference for location yet?

Meh, I'm only coming back for the 15th or so. Didn't I miss the last one by a week already?

So ideally what would be the plan? I could take the train for Manchester and be there with you but should I consider staying for the night in London or would it be ok to arrive in London in the morning and coming back around 9pm??? I would prefer it to be on a Saturday.

I'd like to come but not sure I can do the dates - will check diary when get home and let you know ASAP.

My votes for location would be (in no particular order):

Regents Canal / Little Venice, London
Oxford, Oxfordshire
Eagle Heights, Kent

Though the East End & Docklands are on my doorstep and therefore hard for me to say no to.

Pah, I'm away both weekends, in Ireland for the first and had already booked a weekend away locally for our anniversary for the second.

:(

Could be open for either but will know in next few days - damn calendar!

I know this hasall been asked and answered in the last 9 GTG posts, but I can't be arsed to go hunting...

Which airport is the best to fly into; and what area should I seek accomodation in?

It depends a bit which area of London you are staying in (Heathrow is West, Gatwick South, Stansted North), but I would say:

1. City
=2. Gatwick
=2. Heathrow
4. Stanstead
5. Luton

Heathrow is more congested but has a better train service than Gatwick.

City is fantastic, but is small and has a short runway so is only available for smaller planes/shorter trips. I tried landing a 747 there once and it was messy. Luckily it was in a simulator.

I like the Regents Canal/Little Venice suggestion, haven't been there in years.
