So is rhythm same as symmetry or pattern type of challenges?

it depends on what type of rhythm you are trying to show - what about syncopation or free form jazz rhythms- those would not likely be regular repeating patterns?

It's a question that will never be answered.

Do you want a score of 3.5 or 6? DPC voters do not have a particularly abstract / imaginative eye especially when each image gets 1 to 2 sec of attention from the voter.

"Repeat a theme to create rhythm in your photograph"
IMO, it's something that makes the eye follow a "beat", just as the ear does in music.
In my shot, the eye moves along the rod, pausing a beat at each guide, with Sherpets it moves over the waves of colour analogous to sound waves.

To me, this is like a smooth, flowing melody laid over a strong and steady bass beat.

If unsure, post a pretty sunset or flower. I'm gonna try something for a jazz rythm, it will surely get thrashed.

(As you may have guessed from this post I am slightly miffed at my portrait score :))
