What are you using as an editor? That would help with the direction to steer you in.

Im not very good at special effects editing, but I know there are some textures that add scratches and "hand printed" borders. A good sepia duotone and some grain should make any picture look old fashioned, and for true authenticity i'd adjust the gamma to give it a slightly faded look.

Photoshop "old film" Actions

Take some photographic paper, or shoot a monochrome card and print it.

Take the printed photograph, stomp on it, burn the edges, rub dirt on it, chew off the corners, dab it with chocolate syrup, rubber stamp it, scratch it with a knife, rub it with sandpaper, etc.

Then take a picture of it and use it as a mask in photoshop.

Just a note, I haven't actually tested this method, but it should work.

For color aging, I've discovered that the blue/orange gradient map preset can work quite well, paired with a b/w gradient map to fade a bit, both at various fill levels.

The way they make furnature look old is to drag it behind a pickup, beat it with chains, let the kids play on it in the back yard, sandblast it and generally abuse it until it looks nice and old and then sell it for 30 times it's actual worth. Nor for your picture, you might not want to let the kids play with it in the back yard, the rest might work.

;D

Alternatively, there are literally thousands of free PS brushes out there that you can download. Scratches, stains, cracks, curls, dirt...you name it. Whatever you want it to look like, you can find it out there. Let me know if I can help...I've got tons of brushes of grunge and stuff.
