I was trying my new Nikon D80 in black&white mode, RAW format. All the pictures show in camera viewfinder as black and white. When I load them on my PC, using lightroom, all the images have colors. Am i missing something. How can I convert them in to black and white now ? Please help.

I think monochrome images (or any special effects, for that matter) are only available when shooting in jpeg. RAW images are pure unprocessed sensor data, which means no desaturation or effects take place.

It should be very simple to create monochrome images in lightroom, though.

EDIT Just saw the part where you say the images in the camera are black and white. I think it's because the converts the preview to jpeg, so any effects or in camera edits come into view. I don't think you could even preview RAW files in older dslr's, anyhow.
