I had to get a new D200 for my Europe trip cus my old one was falling apart. Litterally coming unglued. Took the new one out of the box and never even considered the date set-up. You know the rest...

Free Study for the little girl, for sure...

I'm sure they need re-editing but you get the idea. Any comments?

Sadly, my Munster shots are all dated incorrectly at 10/18/2005 before the D200's were even released. LOLOL...crying out loud, actually.

Awww. That sucks. at least you noticed before actually ribboning I hope. You didn't notice because of validation or anything just on your own, right? That's a good thing. All great shots. the monet one is gorgeous.

I switched to Canon cause my last nikon literally fell apart - buttons, LCD covers, that type of thing.

Nice shots, too bad about the date.

THAT sucks, great images...
same thing happened to me on a safari trip, i had my 20d fixed by the agents previously and the date was set to dec 2007.

Sheesh, maybe you can ask for an exemption since you have witnesses to verify your timeframe when you shot these, and as you say 2005 is pre-D200 time LOL. Nah, it would never work...

Yeah Bear, I tried that but it didn't fly. Actually I'm sure they believe me, it's just that some rules can't or won't be broken.

This image has exif data staing that it was taken on October 18th 2005
and the images in this thread date the 19th, 20th......

I'm not certain whether it's right or wrong in this case since there were over 30 something DPC witnesses but I'm the one that screwed up, so I'll take it as it goes. No biggie.

It means much more that people dig the shots. That's the real point anyway.

Yeah, I guess "no exceptions" means just that. Three terrific images, though, all special in their own way. I especially love the one with the little girl. Do you think some might have criticized her motion blur?

Yes, that would most definately been the case. I see that now since other people have mentioned that being a problem here( on DPC) but on the outside, it wouldn't be am issue in the slightest.

In my mind the blur makes the entire shot. I almost couldn't see freeze framing her. It would look silly imo and that's why I chose a shutter speed of 1/160, so there would be a little motion blur. I took a bunch of people walking by that wall and all of them had some blur. She moreso because she was running. I love it.

Yep. Some people don't get that motion blur is intentional. I get comments to that effect on this:

Just ignore them. It's very nice when used well. :)

The motion blur is cool on the subject. But due to the slow speed required to obtainthis it appears the background has a slight blur also and is unfortunate!

I knew there would be someone who did not like it. look how many ones it got from DPC voters. its still my favorite photo to date.

Nothing about this photograph is unfortunate.

I agree and to post a cool comment from e301 on this subject that relates across the board to many image I see with with comments noting their imperfections(?) with a "too bad about the..." or "it's a shame there's a..." etc.

"It's because people decide what they want to/think they ought to see, and they don't look at what they're being shown. What is all this 'too much dark'? Are they mad?" -e301

We...I need to guard against making the mistake of telling people or commenting on what I want to see and not focusing more on what they are showing me.

Maybe I'm lucky I screwed up that dates on my shot because those types of comments would have driven me absolutely mad.

*grin* Couldn't agree more. In fact, it's my second-favorite photo on all of DPC (err ... one of the versions; there are a few). My favorite has even more blur:

Blur ROCKS!!!

I just tried to fave Melethia's Ode but it was already faved. Feels good when I'm ahead of my own curve.

Our friend Xion is another Master within that realm.

I actually agree with Rainmotorsports for once in my life.. This would of worked better had the camera been locked down. Unfortunate indeed.

this is my favorite shot i have ever taken and it is in the same vein. I entered a landscape in the free study instead to avoid comments talking about the buildings leaning and some blur and stuff like that.

goc-Your shot is what hit me immediately when I looked at mine for the first time. No lie.

Just the opposite however...my bg is sharp with a blurred kid and your kid is sharp-ish with a blurred bg.
