One thing is bothered me in this week's episode, they rushed it too much... I don't want to give away too much, but I felt like runaway train just passed by.

I don't know, let me know what you guys think about the last episode...

Also, we are waiting for Dean to show up and give his inside view for all this. I am sure he has lots to say.

Well, from Day One this show was about performing under ridiculous time pressure. And, certainly, that sort of pressure is often part of the professional experience. A lot of people can do a great job given all the time in the world, but a really competent pro can crank out quality work under extreme deadlines. That seems to be what they focused on.

I will say I was a tad surprised by the final choice, but not overly surprised. I thought the non-winner had the distinctly better shots, but there's more to it than that of course.

I was surprised too. I think Maria had a better outfit being able to have the hat.

I was actually talking about double elimination :( I was hoping that would go another week.

Congratulations Maria--The winner of the inaugural season of The Shot! It's good to see a local photographer make good! You really have made us in Orange Co. very proud!

And congratulations to you too, Dean ( DeeRiot). You really had the better photos, but I'm thinking Maria has a bit more potential and overall "well-rounded-ness" (if that's a word). I wish you and Jason luck with your venture together.

John, congrats on making it to the final three. Keep up the good work.

I don't know, Dean's cover shots might have edged Maria's cover shots a bit, but I think she ultimately was the winner because she had the better "total package." Dean is incredibly strong and has great technical skill. Maria is incredibly strong, has the kind of rapport that will make models and clients want to work with her over and over again... but needs work on her technical side.

However, remember the old baseball scout parable: A scout sees two good players run to first base to beat out a throw. Each player beats the throw and runs the base in the same amount of time. The first player runs with perfect form. The second player runs with bad form. Who does the scout choose? - - The second player, of course. Because that player can be taught to run with correct form and will eventually be able to outpace the first player who is already at the top of his game.

Maria's technicals are only going to get better, and then... watch out. :)

Congrats to each of the top three, and thanks for making the show a lot better than it appeared it would be after the first couple of weeks.

edited to avoid the spoiler

Looking forward to it Dean :O)

Personally, it seemed apparent that the judges had some kind of alterior criteria. Not that Maria had bad shots, but there's no way that your final images were 2nd (IMO ofcourse). It's always easy to armchair-quarterback, but it certainly seemed obvious from this armchair. ;O)

Happy Holidays!

I'll bet that Dean could set the two of you up, Tanja. ;-)

FYI, Dean is in a business venture with Jason.
