I googled “impaled on a stick” and it brought up a bunch of youtube videos I am to afraid to click…

On a side note, The Shot website links to a photo contest called the The Shot Spot if anyone is interested. I'd check out the TOS before you post though, from what I can tell it's pretty lame but then again all the legal mumbo-jumbo confuses the heck out of me. I've entered some photos anyways. They could really use some good voters over there. I've entered my RAW photo as well as another in the Self Portrait contest. They encourage friends and family to vote so I thought I'd post a link here, RAW. Not asking that you vote for me, vote how you like. There are some really good photos that don't even get a view let alone a vote over there. It's really too bad. I've recognized a couple of other DPC'rs there as well such as love and littlebird. Anyone else over there??

Hmmmm, I'll take that as a resounding "No" then. LOL! :)

Not sure but I imagine whenever they start it will be posted here:

VH1 Casting Calls

To be honest, it's turning out to be not so much a photography contest as it is a "how many Myspace friends do you have" contest. LOL! I'll keep my eye out for you JoJo. :)

I'm not sure when the next casting call is, but I'll warn anyone that thinks about participating in this show, or any reality show for that matter, to check out the message boards first. Those things are brutal!! You really have to have a think skin. They're not nice to anyone. I was browsing The Shot message boards when it first started and went back the other day and people are just getting downright mean there. It's kinda scary. :)

IMO it takes a certain kind of insane to join any show like this. I can't imagine doing it myself, even if I were younger. There's absolutely no dignity in it, none whatsoever.

ETA: By "it" I mean "being a participant in a made-for-TV reality show"

I was walking down the street directly behind one of the waiters from the reality show The Restaurant who was a bit of a fool on the show. A lot of people recognized him as he passed and a three made comments...

"oooh it's the jerk from that show"

"Check it out...the asshole"

(laughing hysterically, and pointing) "...it's that dude"

To say the least he seemed perfectly ruined by the show, completely uncomfortable in his own skin...I can't image walking down the street, hearing such comments. Well, actually I can...kidding (LOLOL).

It's a pretty bogus way to get your 15 minutes, IMO and I can only image that for most of the contestants involved it turns out to be more bad than good.

Having said that, I like the show even though I've only seen two episodes. It does seem to be...pretty real and cool to watch them make actual choices.

Robin got booted. I was happy.

I liked the dance club challenge. There were a lot of good images from that one.

I just left that place (well, I'm still there but I left them a piece of my mind on my self port) I was only there a couple of days and it frustrated me to no end the way people cheat over there and there doesn't seem to be any kind of moderator to monitor it. Good luck, but I'm finding it's not that great of a place. :( I'm sorry for even posting it here.

Eh, I dont care for the winning, I like seeing the photos.

I watched all the episodes from vh1 site. Last show, I think Jason gone too far with his idea things. He is a good photographer but sometimes you don't think too much, you just listen to your heart. I believe too much preparation in photography could hurt the quality, not so much technically but the quality of the art in the photo. I didn't like Robin too much, she thought she was much better than the rest, and I wish her the best of luck. She just didn't fit in mentally. Jason was too close to be kicked out in episode 6 though :)

Two best friends Dean and Maria will be the worst enemies at the end... That I want to see :)

Who's up for handicapping the reduced field? Do we mostly agree Dean and maria are the front runners? Anyone want to bet against Maria taking the whole thing?

Maria's shot in dance club flipped me. It's was insane. Very good, and I got jealous somehow.

I think Dean and Maria will be last two. I think that's what's being seeded right now to shock the viewers later on.

For me either would do at the end ;)

Yeah, she really hit it out of the park with that one. And you can tell from the judge's comments that they are setting Dean and maria up for the showdown. Gotta bear in mind that, in the end, they have to deliver a photographer that is WORTHY of the Victoria's Secret shoot and the Elle Magazine shoot, and those are the only two that are IMO.

I agree that Maria really knocked it out of the park this episode. Her B-boy shots were outstanding. Her stock definitely went up.

Dean is going to need to bring his bring his game up a bit. He's got the talent but it seems that when he is uncomfortable with the subject matter he is apprehensive and the quality of his shots suffer as a result. He's still one of my faves though.

Don't be too quick to count Jason out. He's got a lot of talent. He just needs to remove himself from the drama, stop worrying about everyone else, and focus on getting his shots.

did anyone ever post a way for canadians to view it online?
12/11/2007 12:40:51 PM · #372
My bet is Maria .. she's going to get it. Her shots have been the best in the last 2 episodes, she stays out of the drama and just gets the job done.

The thing about Maria is she always seems to take the time to find out what the client wants and to get their opinions on her concepts and from that she makes adjustments. She's able to be flexible and that seems to be a pretty important thing.

I think Maria is one of those people sees things way ahead before enter to any room. She plans instantly in her mind, and she actually is ready to roll before challenge starts. If she can't prepare herself mentally, that screws her up a lot.

Or she seems that way to me :)

I record it on my DVR.

Could someone point me to a site that explains how I can get it out of my DVR and onto a storage card or computer? I don't want to go to analog, and then back to digital to get it out.

It's my cable company's DVR. Cable company is Time Warner and the DVR is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300HDC.
