Well my wife and I just got hired on at Southwest Airlines. We both were told today and they are two totally different positions. So that’s what makes it really odd. So we will be flying for free very soon. Where should we go first? Let’s leave it in the US for now…but we will be flying world wide and just paying taxes after we work here for a quarter of the year first. This is a very good day.

How do you fly worldwide on Southwest Airlines? Do you get free travel on partner airlines that fly internationally or something?

Paris Hilton?

She doesn't strike me as your type, but to each his own.

I've said it before: CAPE COD. Fly into Providence or Boston and tootle on down (or over).

I'll second Bear's recommendation. And he's a great host. :-)

Did that in 2001. Flew into Providence and rented a car and went to Cape Cod. My first experience with rotaries. Even went to Provincetown. Saw the highland light in Truro and went to the top of it.

We ate dinner at a neat little restaurant in Wellfleet called Moby Dicks.

Back then I had a 2mp P&S. I would love to go back sometime.

You must mean Paris, Texas because Paris, France isn't in the US!

Congrats on the new careers for you both! I'd recommend flying into Denver and seeing the sights. We did that twice and had a blast both times. There are great places to shop, terrific restaurants, a great museum and aquarium, and the scenery is beautiful. I can't wait to go back again someday.

Yes we can fly on airlines that are partners with Southwest...all we have to do is pay the taxes.

Just remember, when you're flying free, you're probably flying standby. Prepare for lots of hours in airports. ;o)

If you get to Denver, drive up to Estes Park and see the Rockies. I don't know how close you can get to some of the National Parks via Southwest, but we loved Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. And of course, Grand Canyon.

Yes...it will be standby. We are being trained by employees right now when we should or shouldn't fly.

Traveling at off times can be a blessing. Attractions are less crowded so photography is much easier (fewer tourists in your photos ;oP).

Go to Sedona, fly into Phoenix, 2 to 3 hour car ride, you could meet up with your untouchable teammate ;p.
SF or Oakland, I don't really have a place for you to stay but I can show you around some, take you into SF or up the coast. :)
The Utah spots mentioned I would put high on the list.
Nashville TN, some of the best live music around and the smoky mountains are a good drive away but beautiful.
NYC baby! Vegas Baby!
Montana, I don't know where the airport is but I hear great things about the whole state.

Maybe I should get a job with Southwest...

Let's see, you live in Dallas and it's summer. How about Alaska?
