The 1.4x is a "nice to have" if you need the extra reach, but for $279, that's almost another lens.

I don't know how important the tripod mount ring with your camera (plastic mount?). It's also expensive for $143.95. I'm told you can get by with the "Canon Tripod Mounting Ring A for 200mm f/2.8L II" for only $89.95. It's black, but you can always spray paint it white.

Sure battery grip.

What about a good tripod. Or a good flash. I would save your money for the 17-40 to get the wider range. Also, don't forget the cheap 50mm.

Also, don't forget computer stuff. Like a card reader. More memory (RAM), more hard drive space, and PSCS3.

The 350D/400D have a metal mount, just a plastic casing. The internal chassis is still metal. Can you use the type A ring for a 70-200mm f/4L? I don't really care if it's black or white (and neither does micheal jackson, sorry bad joke) if I get to save $60. Can anyone say for certain if the type A ring will work?
