Hello everyone,

I'd like for you to meet Donna - a very good friend of mine who passed away recently due to cancer.

I live in St. Louis where we had the Susan Komen's Race for Cure event just last weekend. A lot of coworkers decided to participate in their adopt a tree program and purchase pink bows in memory of Donna.

I wasn't able to go to the race myself but a coworker was able to take some pictures of the tree we adopted. I've shared the pictures here (hope it works):
In The Pink

I need some help from the creative experts on this site. I would like to enhance one or two of these pictures and give them to Donna's husband and daughter and also her coworkers for them to cherish her memory and her friends who miss her a lot. I am going to take a stab at these pictures as soon as I go home but I thought I'd go ahead and post them here right away so that someone can look at them before I get to it. I admit that I'm not a very creative person. That is where I need your help with ideas as to what I can do with these images. I have posted the originals as I received them. Please feel free to modify these images yourself as well.

I look forward to your comments.

Thanks,

-- Ankur

P.S. I hope that posting something like this isn't against forum rules or etiquette.

Here's just a super quick edit to show how you could get rid of some of the background and focus more on her and the dog.

cropped
converted to black and white
photo filter for warm tones
levels in soft light to black out BG
and USM

it needs more work obviously but I wasn't sure if you were even willing to crop in this far so I didn't want to do too much. it could use some dodging and burning still.

Thanks for a quick response.

Can you think of any ideas for the pictures with the tree and the pink bows? Those are primarily the ones I was thinking about editing.

sre those in your profile? I'll go look. I only saw this shot in the thread so I thought you had more to upload later.

I'm working on a collage for ya.... will take a few more minutes to do it well. :)

This was my favorite of the tree shots but this edit didn't really work out so well. The idea was to blur the background to help it stand out. I'm sure whatever Cindi has on the way will be much better. :D

That blurred background was kinda the idea that I had in my mind for the image with a pink fountain in the background. It's too bad that I don't have any editing tools here at work.

While I 'can't' do it....I think the tree/bows would be a great to selective color it so that only the pink shows.

If you like these, PM me with an email address and I will send you the 4 files I edited as well as the full-size collage.

I think i could have made it a bit better if a had a bigger file size to work with-

Just some basic editing stuff, contrast boost, hue and sat, then i duplicated the layer, desaturated it, and used a low opacity brush to erase out the highlights and reveal the colours underneath.

You can see it here.

Cindi and dassilem had the same ideas. I really like the collage put together by Cindi. I have sent you a PM with my email address. I hadn't thought about the selective colour idea.
